January 2016 Seaford line bustitutions

This thread is running on the Australian Transport Discussion Board (BusAustralia.com) about possible part closure of the Seaford line (south of Brighton) during January 2016.

As might be expected, the focus of discussion in that forum is about which buses will be operating the revived N3 & N4 bustitutes.

Anyone heard anything about this from the rail perspective?

I wonder whether access will be possible to Seaford EMU Depot, or whether the DEMUs from Dry Creek will be operating the Adelaide/Brighton trains?   (always assuming any truth to this rumour!)

Are there enough places to store the EMUs elsewhere during the shutdown?

The electrified platforms at Adelaide Railway Station would easily be able to store enough of them to make sure an Adelaide-Brighton service could be run without pinching DEMUs from other lines. There are already a bunch of them stabled there overnight even when all is normal.

Of course, if the works get done according to first world practices then it won't be a problem - the EMUs would freely run in and out of the Seaford Meadows depot during the day and only a handful of services would be disrupted while the works take place at night. It would also make things a bit disappointing for the bus enthusiasts, because they could be covered by a handful of regular buses doing a couple of runs after their regular afternoon peak duties finish.

What work would require a total shutdown?  Overhead cable replacement?  Trackwork on Onkaparinga Viaduct and Old Honeypot bridge? The troublesome switch at the Noarlunga crossovers?

There is nothing about a closure or bustition on Adelaide Metro's "Planned Disruptions" page

All there is about train disruption is this page http://www.adelaidemetro.com.au/Announcements/Planned-Disruptions/UPDATE-Partial-closures-of-Adelaide-Railway-Station-platforms about rolling closures to platforms at ARS for convention centre works
