No but I wish the $200,000 raised towards this loco being refurbished goes towards upgrading the line from Mount Barker up to the Junction. Then that way it would increase steamrangers revenue track and allow for trains to travel up to meet potential standard gauge arrivals from Adelaide. Steamranger do NOT need yet another loco at this stage.

Heath Loxton
Why on earth would they do that? That section of track is a liability, not an asset!

Heath Loxton
If by "Adelaide" you really meant from Redhill, stopping only at Millswood.

Steamranger do NOT need yet another loco at this stage.
Heath Loxton
They do actually need more steam locos in operation and hauling trains, that's what brings in the paying punters. Dieselranger, while being more accurate, simply wouldn't have the same ring to the name.

527 Was scrapped in the 60's. SteamRanger has loco 520.

I think this topic is about the 500 class diesel 527, not the steam engine that became scrap metal long ago.

"Smacks"

SteamRanger has two 500 Class diesel locos. Road No. 507 and 527. Please note that the first 27 of this class were Broad Gauge locos and the remainder were Standard Gauge. As the first one was 500, the first of the Standard Gauge is 527.

Just highlights the shortsighted/inflexible/misleading nature of loco classifications on the old SAR/ANR.

527 is still in WA far as I know . The transport cost of 527 back to SA is the reason why it is still in WA .

527 future is unknown .

Steamranger has now got hold of 845 .  Once restored would be more useful than the 500 class loco .

last week 845  was transferred from Dimboola to Tailem bend . So not long before 845  will be on Steam ranger rails .

At the end of the day the more trains you have the more dollars you need to keep them going .

So like most heritage groups you have to make decisions what you can keep on the rails to balance the volunteers input and cash inflow .

Thanks for that Big-Bear I was just wondering what was  happening with this loco.Smile

Dear Heath ,

You have been told before on Railpage that the money for 520 was donated by dean Harvey for this project .

You have been told before that you can't redirect the money for one of your idea's .

And what would you know about what Steamranger would need or not need .

And Heath , Stay in school as you are failing the common sense class

If by "Adelaide" you really meant from Redhill, stopping only at Millswood.I think i can easily get hold of a regional rail consortium located out that way who will be more than happily to implement your plan. This is just one of many exciting possibilites cooked up in the Redhill roadhouse. Very Happy

And while we are talking of Redhill, how about we standardize loco 527 and run it from Millswood to Redhill direct and back twice a day hauling the ex murraylander consists, id just love to see a certain banned rail fan out foaming by the ARTC line side when he should be cooking up more garbage in the Redhill roadhouse! Very Happy

Well Heath you'll find the person in question no longer is at Redhill.

Maybe you would be better off putting your efforts towards raising the required  dollars to get 527 transported back home from WA.

And by the way........
I have eaten at that particular Road House and I have encountered a lot worst places to eat around this country!
Have you even been there to try the food?

I have been puzzled about this for some time, so I'm going to ask the question.

Are there two 'Heath Loxtons'?

I have marked many hundreds of essays over the years, and I soon pick up discrepancies from what can be expected of the writer's abilities in what I am reading. That is how plagiarism is most easily detected.

Is 'Heath' the enthusiastic but naive school boy who asked questions that annoyed some of the less tolerant members of this group, or is he a much older person writing letters in 'Heath's' name while  making comments – some making fun of 'his' former statements – which still manage to annoy the less tolerant? His writing style would indicate this.

This whole thread is indicative of a malaise that seems to have infected our group which has tended to descend to trivia in recent months.

That's a pity, as it used to and still could be, a vehicle for influencing governments to begin the huge task of bringing the standard of our Australian railways to what we should have had thirty years or more ago.

If you go back to the very first posts of his on RP there were discrepancies in style and content.

Hello Everyone;
Just to clear things up - There is only one Heath Loxton which is me, a 17 year old rail fan from Adelaide who first joined this site when i was 14 and very inmature. The reason why my style of writing changes is because as i have grown older i have matured. Look at Greasyrhys - I had a laugh the other day when i was reading through some of his 2010 era posts, particularly his question after question in pipe dream threads. Now look at how different his posts are and how much more mature and relevant they are even though they are the same person.

Here is some food for thought: There is one other Heath in Adelaide by the name of Heath Schrapel that is similar to me in many ways but is my arch rival...

In the maturity stakes you still have a way to go. Trust Me!

I have had the (un)fortunate pleasure of meeting Heath in real life so can confirm that he is a real person (and would be about 17 years old). I was left about as perplexed as you are as to why he says what he does. Certainly not someone I'll forget in a hurry...

But like SAR526 says, there could be two Heath Loxtons...

Hi everyone,

Well, after a few long years of a forced hiatus, I'm back. Whether or not I'm allowed to stay back is another thing, however I did log in using my old details for curiosities sake and strangely enough, it worked.

Anyways, I would like to clarify a thing or two. First of all, I am NOT Heath Loxton, and Heath is not me. I don't know why he keeps bringing up my name given I've had nothing to do with him (apart from giving him advice on why not to bring up SA Regional Rail on here, because he'll regret it).

Second of all. I'm not a foamer, and I certainly don't cook up garbage at the local servo. Never did cook up anything substandard. I'm no longer employed there but there is one thing I do miss, even though my clothes stank of it as a result, was cooking up a hamburger or steak sandwich, or whipping up a cappuccino for a customer or three. Alas, I digress.

But I stress I am not Heath, and Heath is not me. I have seen him around a few times, including once or twice on the Seaford line opening day (easy part was, he kept following myself and my other half) and thankfully never in Redhill. There are also two or three users on here are also a few users on here who have met me who can also clarify.

Kind Regards,
Mitchell Heard/Heardy_101

Back on topic I have heard a rumour that the diesel donated to Steamranger  527 might not come to SA or Steamranger at all as the cost of the move is the killer. I do not know if any of it is true though, but that is what I have heard!

Hi guys with looking at these posts i work as a passenger attedndant and also work in the depot at steamranger and therefore know whats going on with this diesel in WA. SteamRanger does not have the funds to get it back to SA but there has been talk about a possible way of moving her back to SA thats all i can say for now
