Hi fellas I'm 23 and looking to try and get into Metro as a train driver I've got a great passion for the industry and would truly love and appreciate the job. I just have a few questions if someone could please help me??

Does the fact that I'm only 23 work for or against me?

I also lost my license 4 years ago does that completely ruin my chances??  I've had no speeding finds or anything against my driving record for the last 3 years if that helps

I dont see age having any bearing but one thing I think most Railways want for their Train crews is a VALID CURRENT Driving License because you could sign on at a depot and then take a motor vehicle to a location to relieve a crew member who then drives the vehicle 'home'.
Obviously this return method also applies to you.
While I doubt they would say at any interview or later, the fact you have previously lost your license depending on WHY and for how long , MAY be counted against you but, dont let that stop you applying.

From what I have been told, most business's (Railways included) are very reticent in telling an applicant why they wont be employed by them, most basically just wont give an explanation, other than to tell you not to reapply at another time but that instruction usually only appears in an advertisement  when the positions are re advertised at a later date.

1. I had 2 people in my class younger than you...Also had people in late 40's and 50's
2. AS for the loss of license - that shouldn't be a factor......assuming your criminal record check is clean

Keep on eye on the metro careers site and register to be notified when they call out for applications...Be prepared for a long process...Just because you have a passion for the industry doesn't mean you will be suited to the role.
