Currumbin Sanctuary Miniature Railway Photos

About two weeks ago I managed to again visit one of my favourite miniature railways as a child. The blue locomotive was running and I saw the red miniature steam engine in the shed although I missed photographing it. The Currumbin railway provides both a good ride for kids and and easy way for adults to travel from one part of the sanctuary to another. It provides quite a pleasant ride through the trees and wetlands. The line also has an interesting layout.

The lorikeet feeding area is now free for the public to enter although you still have to pay to enter the main Sanctuary where the railway is. Just to finish off I'll include a picture of the lorikeets.

I just found this thread. A couple of photos, this one taken by my late father in the late 60s:

This one I took in 1974:

Newspaper picture of the construction of the track for the Currumbin Bird Sanctuary 1963. Source data is on the newspaper article itself

This thread was the most recent of the Currumbin bird sanctuary threads so I used it. Graham has linked another older thread. Railpage search will find at least another much older thread as well.

I was there 4 years back and taking kids again in a few months, its not just a "ride", its actually incorporated into moving around the park which is quite spread out. Yes you can walk, but the train is a mini PT system.
