Yes after  55 years outward cement traffic from Waurn Ponds has been lost to road.
...Mildura cement is containerized and roaded over to Gheringhap where it is loaded onto the Mildura freight train.

Doesn't sound like the traffic has been entirely lost then, just being prepared for the transition to SG Mildura services. Probably cheaper to run cement around Melbourne by road at this stage too.

cement traffic by rail has ceased.
Yes after  55 years outward cement traffic from Waurn Ponds has been lost to road . Reportedly 1 x B Double does 3 return road trips per day .  Mildura cement is containerized and roaded over to  Gheringhap where it is loaded onto the Mildura freight train . There is rake of  cement pots stored on the old Fynasford line lead between North Geelong Yard and Douro Street .  Guess  PN will go on another scrapping spree.

Thanks for all the great info.
How are the containers transfered?  Side loader semi?

As a Steamrail member/volunteer I must say I wasn't expecting to see that. I bet QUBE are using it on a freight service. Someone confirm?

No doubt, about the only time it gets used now is dragging boxes across the state.

More interestingly S313 was seen running a down BG goods via Albion this very morning. https://www.railpage.com.au/railcams/albion2/photo/24625258430  I believe the train number was 97xx so via Seymour.  Could this be a new service out of Mooroopna ?

Wow, when was the last time an S class ran a freight solo?

What with QUBE operating the daily Maryvale Paper train, the daily Deniliquin Rice train, and the twice daily Kilmore East Quarry train, all with their limited pool of 4 G class and 1 VL class locomotives available to Broad Guage, I think it is likely we will see hired heritage locomotives in semi-regular use, at least until QUBE are able to get their hands on another more modern, more powerful BG loco.

QUBE have regularly used both S313 from Steamrail, and X31 from SHRC, so these loco's seem to be in favour from a spot rental point of view for some reason.

What else is there?  A rake of T classes?
We all know where that leads to (think ElBorrow).
Besides, those locomotives hardly run on a heritage train anyway.

Stabled at Geelong Station overnight (rather than the turntable at Geelong Loco) were the 3 N class locos for the morning up services. A lot of track work vehicles at the car wash on the corner of Roy St at 11pm as well.

Does anyone know of the work that was undertaken?

What reason would there be for A66 to be running up to Sunbury/Bendigo? Radio testing? Surely it wouldnt be running any services on the Bendigo line?
TOQ-1
ICE Radio testing i believe is the report. A66 is commonly used for this task.
