Build a train tracker into Railpage we can use

Ideas: Build a train tracker into railpage we can use

Why not build a train tracker service at railpage so we can all have access and it can be shared around between all the members freely.

The tracker has been taken down according to the forums bring it back.

on the issue of the tracker, if it was ARTC's 4trak it has become password protected

It's all well and good to want one to be made, but has anyone actually thought about how to get the data from ARTC? If they've put password protection on 4trak, or whatever tracker they use, then logic would dictate that they don't want it in the public domain. If this data were to be gotten without their approval, it wouldn't bode well for the site, or those behind it.

Quite correct.  A deal would ned to be done with ARTC or their shareholder might also have something to say about it.

Access to a private database just for fun will not happen. Someone would want a serious amount of money for access. It does not matters if  7 or 700,000 people pine for it.

it could be possible to pull the data from the ARTC tracking servers. the onlything wrong with that is it is just a tiny bit illegal

Don't even think about the 4Trak system and hacking it.

So let me get this right....You want MGH to develop a piece of code to illegally access data from a Federal Government corporation, have that (illegally-obtained) data publicly available, and hosted on Bevans' website, just to satisfy your gunzel wet dreams?!?

Is it school holidays already?Rolling Eyes
