Got to admire their optimism with the stated shipping date for the 2nd run V/locity of late March. I always understood it was a annual problem with the Chinese factories that production after CNY was very slow to restart with the need to train-up new employees because of the number of workers who do not return after the holidays. In recent years we've become used to the big gap in Chinese model railway deliveries from February through to May/June because of these problems in restarting production after CNY. Time will tell.

Laid eyes on the new run of V/locity's the other day....

They improved the paint of the Red/Purple/Yellow versions, and put the black around the windscreen, in the headlights and the horns.

Welp, that will make up my mind in regards to getting a PTV one.

Wonder if it comes as a "multi-piece", "assemble-it-yourself" kit like their previous "pre-built" offerings...

Hi David,

No I am not a guru, but can update you on these locos.

The SMR 10 Class were a tank engine version of the NSW D50 (T) Class.

Eureka are planning to do all of the NSW Standard Goods Engines based on the 50 chassis, including the D53 (TF), D55 (K), and SMR 10 Class, but not the CR K and KA Class.

I will wait and see the design parameters and other construction details before making a decision on this importers steam engine version (SR's first venture in this direction).

Happy tanking,

John.

And why has he got both the front & back couplers sticking way out from the buffers, when they don't stick out that far on the real locos?

After all, the factory is only going on the drawings that the supplier supplies.
  M636C Minister for Railways

It is worth pointing out that while the 10 class used the T class frame and running gear, the boiler was based on the P class.

So it isn't just a matter of adding tanks to a 50 class model.

Eureka have the chassis but not much else to create an SMR 10 class.

What's so special about SMR 23 on that page?

What's so special about SMR 23 on that page?
Newcastle Express
SMR 23 was painted in Royal blue with light blue lining sometime in the mid to late 1950s.
She was still in those colours in 1980, believe it or not (yes, the lining was almost obliterated by grime, but it was still there).
So with just a few modifications theres a loco that was unchanged for about 25 years.

Regards
