Springwood stopping location

Why do the citybound 4 car V Sets stop at the city end of Springwood station rather than in the centre of the station? I've noticed this on a regular basis for several months.

Most likely to do with being able to properly see the signal and maybe point.

Im not familiar with springwood, but if all the waiting shelters and office is down that end, that may also play a part.

I think it's done to reduce the gap between the train and the platform. The gaps can be large at Springwood and Katoomba.

Without measuring the distances, the FootBridge in on the last 3rd of the Platform from memory.
So if the leading car (West) stops at or under the Footbridge, then the other cars are opposite the main building and awning area.
While its certainly NOT consistent, most Trains stop with the body of the Train in about the middle of the length of the Platform so waiting passengers can use the protection of any building or awning while they wait the arrival of their train.

There is another reason for 'Stopping Short' and thats if theres a Meal Room or some facility there.
If the Train is a "terminator' stopping there only long enough for the Guard and Driver to Change ends, it wont be the first time a crew has 'gone to fill the Billy'.

This was brought about by a number of falls of elderly passengers when the 4 car sets stopped at the original 4 car markers. The platform, from opposite the old signal box to the Sydney end of the platform, is much higher than from that area back to the Country end of the platform. This was a recommendation from the station staff at Springwood and was implemented without any argument from management. By the way, there has not been a footbridge at Springwood for a long while, and this has nothing to do with where down trains stop, that has not been altered.
