A mixture of States/Territories already, good to see, one is correct.
But it is not: Mataranka, Blackall, Wilmington or Hillston

One clue is: It is narrow gauge.

Hillston,
Parachilna.

Clue: "we of the never never" would be the closest location but still a bit of a drive away.

Now Birdham is an interesting location... not much there now, but apparently was busy when the line terminated there.

The next clue to this is that Birdham died to a population less than 10 so the Pub was physically moved to the town where this photo was taken.

It would have to be Larrimah then but it didn't look like it on Google Map view.

Larrimah it is, just behind the pub. Looking south to Mahony Street. To the left of photo out of shot is a couple of old track machines which have been restored by some locals.

Thanks Johnboy.  This was a test.  Too much ballast there for pioneer lines in QLD but I did not realise there was so much preserved in the old 3 foot 6 in the NT.

I have been hogging the Archeology Whereisit lately so I will make it an open floor.

Definitely not!

would that be Allora?

I think you are right, that would have been my guess.

5915, you've done it again.

The location is a Km or two from Allora towards Hendon. It is beside a road so I'm not surprised it went quickly. I took this shot and others recently as an aside to returning from Wallangarra. What surprised me was that the junction at Hendon, a triangle, appears to be usable and appears to have crushed vegetation on the rail head in places as though it has been used in the not too distant past. Maybe a track machine storage place? I'll get the photos up soon now I've used this one here.

Past that bridge many times over the last few years.  thanks GrahamH

Where is this?

Long way from Roto.  It is narrow gauge.

SDSR locos on trains to Hendon and Clifton are turned on this angle.
  5915 Chief Commissioner

Not Wallangarra.  Photographed location has not had a train in a long time.

That explains why some people have made comments indicating they think trains can run to Allora or that only minimal work would be required for it to happen.
