Nce DCC Panels

Does anyone know where you can get RJ-12 telephone connectors to plug into the sockets on NCE UTP & PCP panels. The RJ-12 connectors from Jaycar & Altronics will not plug into the sockets on the panels, but ready made telephone cables from Jaycar will work fine, except the plugs are not orientated correctly for DCC.

I need to make up some leads.

Thanks,

Les.

Hi Les

I've used RJ12 plugs from Jaycar crimped onto Cat6 cable without any issues into NCE panels.

These are the plugs I used - https://www.jaycar.com.au/rj12-telephone-plugs-for-stranded-cable-pk-5/p/PP1432

Hope this helps

you can buy from nce panels that have 2 -6pin sockets for the cabs, an 2 -8 wire socket so you can plug in the cat5 cables.

You are right. you cannot use telephone cable, but you can cut one end off and crimp the wires on the right way I'm told.

Terry, David,

Thank you. I have tried both of the plugs from the bins in store. They were very hard to push in, and near impossible to remove.

I will look at the prepacked plugs as they might be from a different manufacturer,

The plugs on the pre made leads are fine, except for orientation.

Thanks,

Les.

By the sounds of it you have taken the panel to the store and tried inserting the loose connectors in the panel socket.  They will be very difficult to insert as the connector hasn't been crimped yet, so the gold contacts not being pushed in are what is making it difficult.  Only after they are crimped and the contacts pushed in/down onto the wire would you be able to insert the connector properly.

Also make sure you get the connectors suited to the type of wire you are using.  There is a difference between connectors designed for stranded or solid core wires.  If you mix it up, you will still have the same issues you are experiencing now.

Thank you, have crimped a cable and it is fine. I had one premade lead that was near impossible to remove, so I didn't want to get caught out,

Thanks,

Les.
