    We have just purchased (yesterday intact) an additional server with 144GB of RAM and 1TB of disk for supporting the database server.  A migration will be required post installation which Michelle and I will do later this week.  @michaelgreenhill

    The new server adds to the current servers at the RDC and will provide the uplift in capacity we require to remove bottlenecks in the processing of requests to the servers.  The database of data is growing every minute when you consider photos, posts, news and train data etc.

    Last upgrade was start of 2016.

    Further update

    The additional server was installed into the data centre today providing extra much needed capacity.  Over the next few days we will carve up the cluster and build a new database presence and maybe move a few things around.  We will also establish the BFF guest operating system for the mobile device build.

    Sorry about the outage guys, the database server is groaning under the load and is about to be migrated to the new hardware.

    I'm getting the same here, but a refresh brings the page up.

    Also the TRN emails have stopped again!

    DB2 is built, just waiting for @michaelgreenhill to migrate the database.

    Database migrations works have commenced meaning downtime through a maintenance window will happen today.  We would expect several hours of downtime.  Thanks for your patience.

    Lately I have been getting this:

    quite regularly when clicking on a thread. CTRL+F5 will bring up the desired page.

    I believe this has been fixed.  I have upgraded the number of concurrent connections the production server has available and I can see an uplift in connections on the firewall.  Please let me know if you get one of these responses again or unable to allocate resource of similar

    This is something I've noticed too. I've emptied the notifications database tables. Hopefully, this will fix the issue.

    I got a TRN for a thread I've never even read overnight. I don't subscribe to threads, just read the ones I want to read.

    Slightly related to this, perhaps, i don't get the TRN email but I do have the red notifications box in the top right of my screen telling me that there are 3 new posts in threads I watch, but when I go there, the last posts are all my posts.  If I go and reply to another thread, the count will increase to 4!

    EDIT: which it did when I replied to this thread.

    took me from 11.45pm to 1.20am - but we  cleaned it up. Would have seen it sooner, but were busy watching V8's then the F1 Smile

    ps a report post is still the best method. but only report the user once, we can work it out ! Also remember the team still are real world people, ie not always here !

    This post seems okay, but Railpage was running very slow a few moments ago.

    A problem is starting to become apparent with the News Forum in that topics are in that very broad general forum and not in a more relevant forum with other topics of a similar nature. A case in point is the topic in the News forum about the Indian Pacific stopping off in the Blue Mountains. I eventually just found it buried deep in page three of that news forum, in amongst topics from all around the country and overseas. https://www.railpage.com.au/f-t11396076.htm

    But a thread was just started in the NSW forums on the same topic, which is why I went searching for the previous thread buried in the 'News' forum. That means the Indian Pacific stopping in the Blue Mountains topic is now spread across two non similar forums instead of being gathered together in a tidy business like professional manner https://www.railpage.com.au/f-p2078834.htm#2078834

    A quick check of the News forum will find threads on Poland mixed in with threads on Perth and in amongst one on the Gympie Mary Valley tourist line, one on China and express trains stopping at Bulli NSW etc etc etc
