Can I propose two options.
1. Fit the detailed couplers,  but include one functional one per Sprinter. OR
2. Fit detailed couplers,  and sell as an alternative the functional one. OR
3. Fit detailed,  include a functional, and have both purchasable as spares.

Options 1+2 cater for accurate detail single unit running, and functional multiple unit running at two units only. Option 3 allows those wanting multiple unit running above two units to purchase the couplers to satisfy that .

Just my thoughts.

Regards

Hi All,

Here's a chance to be part of the OTM design process.

The factory came back to us late today with a revised coupler for the Sprinter.

Unfortunately to achieve this within the current tooling it means deleting the highly detailed but non operational coupler as shown on our OTM Blog or OTM Facebook page.

The new design is less detailed than the current one but it means that you won't need to change out the couplers if you want to run the Sprinters in a multiple consist.

So now you get to choose, which design do you want ?

Post your comments below or send us an email to sales@ontrackmodels.com.au with your choice.

The closing date for your vote is Tuesday February 2nd.

Hi
I bought the boxed pair so it interests me. I don't want Kds. Was thinking I might buy working Sharfenbergs from Bachman (They look even worse than your red version though)
What I think is doable is to modify the blue coupler, by replacing the male lug and receiver with the working red male lug / receiver, and leaving all the other detail in place. I am presuming the protruding lug and receiver is the bit that allows it to  work. By recessing the air line ports on the blue one and keeping the trip pin(which is prototypical) and electrical connections it would look a hell of a lot better than the plain Jane red one. If you go for the red one as is, I think I would want to run my two motors individually with dummy blue type couplers and just not connect them. To me they look rough with red type couplers. Could you include spare blue couplers if you go with the red version please?

Not a formal update, but the following was posted on Facebook last night as a comment.

On Track Models We just received an email back from the factory this evening. We're currently going through it and need to get back to the factory first before we announce the revised production date. We paid the production deposit a long time ago so we want it as soon as possible.

Hi All,
Here's a shot of our new Sprinter 7001 in the PTC Livery.
This is the first colour scheme won by these units and is still a highly popular one, especially if you go by the pre-orders.
These units are currently being assembled in our factory and will dispatched soon.
We'll keep you updated on the delivery time frame as we find out more information,

The table was cleared a year ago. The foam cradle cleaned and the tools in place.
DCC Sounds for my two sprinters ordered and removed from box when they arrived Smile

Mind you a lot of things have happened, reincarnations of my messy desk repeated many times over....  Sad

I guess I better go out and put things back in order for Wednesday, Thursday or Friday?

Ha Ha
Nice to give them a run though Wink

The Startrack guy just made my Sunday!
Was expecting 7001 to arrive Monday and spend a week at the post office till I could get it.

Mine arrive straight but with one of the mirrors off, not a big deal.

Now to find that sound decoder...

Great guide, wish i'd seen it earlier Smile

Only difference with mine was I used 3 bank cards instead of bread clips.
I ended up bending one of the pins getting the DC blanking plate off and had to delicately straighten it out.

It's my first DCCSound unit and i'm afraid it's going to cost me a bit because I want to redo my whole fleet now!

Hi N463,
Ha Ha. Not sure why I got them, maybe Craig knew my printer was recently dispatched to land fill and not yet replaced? Wonder if On Track decided that it was better to send the Sprinters out as early as possible, rather than to hold them back another day, so they could print them out?
Home printers can take an eternity and run out of ink quickly? Imagine printing a couple thousand pages?  Lead time at the commercial printers might be a few days?  So put them on line and send the Motors out. Good idea Wink
I guess the first few were given instructions, and the decision was made to put them on line? Anyway I wanted to fit sound and get them on line to help my mates, and perhaps Craig made sure I was all set when the posty delivered them?

Cheers
