Probably a silly question but are grain trains in Victoria hauled by 2 x 81 class common, unusual or rare?
Most of the recent reports that I have seen involve an 81 and a G or BL (whatever).
Is this planned, just the way the cookie crumbled or is it done to meet crew preferences, perhaps?

I have just read on Gheringhap loop page that an SCT Grain train ran on the DN last night onto a western SG line. Does this mean a new competitor for SG in Vic? Can anyone confirm?

They have been out that way quite a few times as reported by @BingleyHall and others.
SCT regularly runs via Gheringhap with the Dooen loading and with Superfreighters to Adelaide / Perth.

CM3313 and CM3315 have been on lease to Qube for quite some time and with the current motive power problems they are having I would be surprised it they have given up the hire of them, they need every horse they can get at the moment!

Info today, as of Monday, GrainFlow Dimboola, will be open for grain deliveries, by appointment only, so that's it for season 16/17 she's over Red Rover.
A summary of figures would be good, I will keep an ear to the ground.

I've tallied up last year's grain movements on the Bendigo line:
PN - 73 Down, 71 Up (Mainly Piangil, some Deniliquin)
Qube - 42 Down, 42 Up (Mainly Woorinen, one Deniliquin I think)
SSR - 6 Down, 6 Up (Deni, Mitiamo, Elmore)
That's a rough total of approx 290000 tonnes of grain hauled.
It'll be interesting to see how this year pans out. Thus far it's been pretty busy (more so that last year, but the current closure of the Mildura line is a factor here).

Rick, there are a couple of workarounds for Flikr, I think, if you want to try:
1. Put the pics in a Gallery and post the Gallery link from the address bar - doesn't show the photos in the post but shows the link.
2. Likewise, link for each photo, NOT the generated one, though, the one in the address bar.
