Hi all,

After reading the book 'Bush tramways and private railways of tasmania', in a chapter called hobby trains and railways that never existed, there was a place listed called cuba park, apparently at circular head it states that they had a minature railway. now I assume its gone but if anyone has some info that would be great.

Thought the name rang a bell.

It was up for sale about May last year:

Link to property listing.  Presumably sold, but one of the selling points was the miniature railway.  Some of the photos show old and present photos of locos etc. It does mention that the railway had not been used for about 6 years.

No, but I stumbled across it around 1995-96 just driving around and walked around it. I couldn't even see a house. Was alot better standard than many clubs. Huge trestles.

Tried to convince wife to pack up from Qld and head to FNW of the wet windy part of Tassie and learn to milk cows, still in Gladston Qld.

If you mean 7.5", then this is more common in USA.

I went to some sort of open day there in the 80s (my wife's family lived in the area at the time). It was very impressive but unfortunately off the beaten track. In those days west of Stanley wasn't that well promoted in mainstream tourist info.

As for the climate, it's not bad at all.

are the rails are still in place today?

I used to live at Smithton and was a visitor to this railway when it was being operated. It was all set up by the Kingston family and old Mr. Kingston used to live nearby. For more information I suggest you contact Kingston Bros Pty Ltd at Smithton on 0364521447. Any one of the Kingston brothers would be able to fill you in on anything you wanted to know.

Does it still exist... yes and no. I was given a guided tour by the current owner today. The bush is taking it back.
