No worries.  Some questions if you might know the answers?

1.  I assume that QUBE still have a BG rake after this?
2.  How many wagons and where are the bogies coming from?
3.  Any mention of loco conversions?
james.au
It'll be the 40 block and there wont be a QUBE BG grain train.

Woorien is basically cleared out, and in a month or two there wont be any BG north of Maryborough.

Locos will be whatever on the SG they can muster up

Going to McIntyres' for conversion.
Yes, no more BG rake.
Basically PN has its monopoly back on the BG besides SSR 20 hopper Kensington Mill train, unless SSR increase their precense.

So QUBE is basically removing itself from grain haulage work on the BG altogether.  PN and SSR will be the only ones available for work on the Bendigo/Swan Hill and Goulburn Valley lines?  Unless QUBE decides to convert it back again of course...

Is there a current list of the QUBE loco fleet available anywhere?

G512 'Peter Pan' On Hire from CFCLA.
G515 'Raising Fast' On Hire from CFCLA.
G532
VL356 'Gatum Gatum' On Hire from CFCLA.

It'll be interesting to see who hauls the Woorinen grain trains now.  I would think that SSR could be in a position to take that up if they source some wagons (and convert) with BG bogies.

Perhaps SRHC SG roster shall go on hire to qube? I could see c501 and gm 36 going on hire and Dident qube recently run a grain train near Swan Hill?

SG they are using about 4 CM's in Victoria, along with 872/8044?

They possibly own G512/515 now too.

I don't think QUBE want to touch anything Seymour related with a 10ft pole at this point in time, let alone any of the SG stuff. Not running the grain train means once G521 comes back after a traction motor repair they can shuffle locos around.

That grainy was G532-S303-313, and was the last one. Woorinen, is that location you speak of and was the ONLY loading point on Bg for that Qube grainset after the Murray Basin conversion. Apparently it is basically cleared out for the season, so no point having the rake idle on BG for months.

Interesting comment, care to elaborate? If they are still using B74 as Jack suggests and before that they were using the S as well is this a recent development?

X31 and T378 got returned in the last week... It seems at the moment the case is to get rid of the Heritage stuff at some point in the future.

Makes perfect sense, they were on spot hire and if they are no longer running the BG Grainy and they don't need as much BG motive power then the spot stuff is going to be first to go. I assumed from your 10ft pole comment that something had gone wrong but that sounds like just good business practice to me.

With no paper train running for a few weeks, there is a surplus of locos. Not surprised G521 is in for repairs.

I would hope SSR see it as an opportunity to increase their presence and have a 40 wagon train if possible.

Will be interesting to see how many more trains PN run to Deniliquin (lots of grain still), Tocumal (plenty of grain) & Piangil when the other lines close for conversion. There's plenty of other sites like Elmore (100,000T) & Mitiamo.

When I was leaving the MCG last night, I did spot G 532 at the head of a METRO works train. They weren't ballast wagons, but I'm not sure what exactly they were.  It was heading from Flinders St towards Richmond, looked to be on one of the lines going towards Caulfield.

Now for something completley different:

Latest photos over at Vicsig have got GL 112 (I assume hired by QUBE) running a 6MC5 Cement freight out of Melbourne yesterday. Is this new traffic?

I am not aware of any cement freight originating out of Melbourne for interstate markets in recent years.

QUBE's B/G rake is still sitting in Tottenham Yard earlier this morning.

By the way, if anyone is wondering where QUBE might be getting the S/G bogies from, well there is a stack of Bogies sitting near No. 11 Track North Dynon, plus a couple of rakes of CQBYs sitting on No. 14 & No. 15 Tracks also in North Dynon. Although I could be wrong, although it wouldn't be the first time that QUBE has hired wagons from someone, just so that they could use the Bogies on other wagons.

Would these have been former Aurizon services? That would explain a lot.

Yes 80 class.

Running the cement to Minto in NSW via Junee is what I read elsewhere.

QUBE certainly have two rakes with a third to join soon from BG conversion. Been running via Gheringhap everyday this week. Trips to Dimboola especially.

? Today they delivered quite a few tanktainers on what looks to be the Maryvale rake. I'm guessing it's all cement though a lot are not in the traditional white - grey tanks in a dark red frame. I haven't seen them here before. G532 is shut down in Shepp so I guess Qube didn't run through to Tocumwal.

What makes you think QUBE would do this?

QUBE have an existing commercial relationship with CFCLA who have a much larger pool of locomotives. Locomotives that are much more modern, reliable and efficient than the musuem pieces gathering cobwebs at Seymour. Yes, they have been known to spot hire C501 or L277 (from Australian Locolease) when needed at short notice, but out of a matter of convenience, nothing else. When locomotives are needed, they would prefer to go to the only mob that can provide them with something built in the last 35 years.

QUBE hire the museum pieces from SRHC and Steamrail because there aren't any other options for ready motive power on the broad gauge. That is not a problem with standard gauge.
