THE South African government has begun the process of seizing land from white farmers.
Local newspaper City Press reports two game farms in the northern province of Limpopo are the first to be targeted for unilateral seizure after negotiations with the owners to purchase the properties stalled.
While the government says it intends to pay, owners Akkerland Boerdery wanted 200 million rand ($18.7 million) for the land — they’re being offered just 20 million rand ($1.87 million).
“Notice is hereby given that a terrain inspection will be held on the farms on April 5, 2018 at 10am in order to conduct an audit of the assets and a handover of the farm’s keys to the state,” a letter sent to the owners earlier this year said.

If Dutton wins and takes the party to the right (i.e. back to the Abbott years) the party will lose some of their support from the Nationals, and the middle ground in urban electorates will be there for Labor to take.
It's not like the UK or USA where very few people ever change their vote. There is no incentive to go for the middle ground there, because elections are won by whichever party convinces more of their party base to get out and vote. A moderate candidate cannot win, because the hardliners they abandon greatly outnumber the very small amount they can gain from the middle ground.

Have a forward looking vision, explain it, try and take your colleagues with you but at the end of the day stand up and say why. You can't appease some inside and outside so don't waste time and get on with it. That gets the respect of the middle ground.

My puzzle is what set off Dutton's emotional rant a week or so ago? His highly emotional actions against Malcolm as seen on TV this week reminded me of a school kid who didn't like the way the school champion looked at him or got in front of him in the bus or canteen line etc, so he feels he has lost face so he decided to take on the school champion to regain face and predictably loses. Now the loser (Dutton) will stew and do something stupid to try and save face. All Dutton did was make himself look a spiteful wrecker.

Blaming the whites for the predicament there is akin to the Irish blaming the British for all the misfortunes that still betide them a century after they became their own nation. In fact, I'm pretty sure if the Irish could have blamed the British for the real-estate crash and the GFC that they would have!

@ DonDunstan not all White South Africans are Afrikaners and I was talking about some of the farmers having racist tendencies. And I was talking about farmers. There is no evidence that this is happening in the cities. 2 99% of to SA people I know are Jewish who have no truck with the racist element within Afrikaner community. I stress again if SOME RACIST FARMERS treat blacks like they are sub human than those farmers can expect sympathy from blacks. So stop assuming stuff just because you think I am racist.
