XTRAP - Craigieburn

  Lockie91 Chief Train Controller

Just spotted an  X’trapolis doing a revenue service on the Craigieburn line trailing set was 39M - 1320T - 40M at Kensington travelling up towards FFS.

Showgrounds trains do not stop at Kensington, are XTRAPS staring to spread or was this a Metro fluke?

TIA

This was intended to be the first page of the next Choose Your Own Adventure book, until was dumped due to the use of 'Adventure' being false and misleading advertising.

What would an X’trap be doing running a revenue service on that line?

I did see a Xtrapolis that was heading towards the Showgrounds at platform 10 at Flinders Street.

There would be an occasional Xtrapolis that would need to go up to Craigieburn TMD for something if they can't supply at the other Xtrapolis depots (Bayswater / Epping). Also worth noting that sometimes Xtrapolis can be stored at Flemington Racecourse until the train is called in for peak service.

Both of these services are non-revenue services.

I have seen a few X-traps on the Craigieburn line, including at the maintenance depot. I have never, however, seen one in revenue service. Maybe some Comeng failed or something and they had to replace it, and an X-trap had to urgently return to the busy Alamein line, so they turned it into a revenue service.

The alamein closest to 3.30 at riversdale is quite full I might add.
