Just saw a post on Facebook showing these new units have now arrived. They arrived of a ship at Carrington sometime today and have been taken to Cardiff by SSR units 48s34 and 602. While it’s difficult to tell due to protective plastic, it appears EMD101, EMD102 and EMD103 are in a white undercoat livery. Also on Flickr
I thought this thread was about GT46Ace Standard Gauge locos ? Most of the posts are referring to that so why is the thread being highjacked by those on the skinny gauge from up north ?The GT46 variants will be available in both gauges, and the skinny gauge market will be larger than that for God's gauge - discussing the reasons for these imports of either gauge has reasonably equal merit. This a locomotive model that will not be judged by its gauge or the state it runs in.
The 3 new standard gauge GT46ACE-2s will be going to their new owners after a paint job, it’s not PN,SCT or SSR.In the video here it shows 3 inverters in the place of the 1 large one on the older loco's.
The locos are very similar to previous GT46ACE, main change is walkway around the rear of loco by moving electrical components around.
They will not have 6 inverter drives but will stick to the inverter per bogie design that has proved very reliable.
