In the past P Class locomotives were used on the Tocumwal goods to use their head end power to power the refrigerated containers on the train (P's used to lead on a down service so they were In the correct position)

Qube has power generators mounted In 20' containers.

Apparently today’s Weekly Notice states that the accreditation of P11-18 has been transferred to SSR. There are some rumours that not all of the locos will actually change hands but as usual take railfan rumours with a cellar of salt.

Having HEP in a P-class will help with XTrap transfers.  No need for a BVDY van I would imagine.

Good to see them finding a new home where they will be used.

I doubt P13 will be Transferred as it is used as the Vline Standard gauge Shunter and for Miscellaneous duties.

P11, 14, 16, 17 & 18 have been acquired by SSR. P12, 13 & 15 remain with V/Line to continue their shunt / pilot duties primarily around South Dynon.

P14, 16, 17 & 18 were/are attached too S312 + T385 at South Dynon today ready to be transferred to Bendigo. Not sure of the current location of P11.

Adding on the VLP P class (P11/14/16/17/18) to SSR. It was listed in the new edition of the VLP addenda. I'm led to believe that those P classes are going to get a repaint into an SSR livery.

As I write this, they are already on their (P14/16/17/18) way to SSR North Bendigo Workshops.

As for P11, still at Downer EDI Newport... reasons unknown.

The repaint story is just a gunzel rumour. There is no plan to repaint them.

Of course as always that plan could change tomorrow.

She looks a bit on the shabby site, could do with a cut and polish, a task for DangerDan.

Great comment Dick, I reckon your right, the P - Class had some terrific livery over their time.
