Not a bad idea if they can make it work.  The idea of making fares cheaper outside of uber peak hours has been discussed before but have any networks in Australia made these changes?

I have knowledge of the Melbourne Myki Touch on and off before a certain time in the morning and you travel for free but don't believe this exists in the Sydney Network.

V/Line does not offer free travel in the morning that I know.

$2.70 on a sunday for everybody.

Even with 30% cheaper fares people still take trains in peak hour because that is when people need to get to work.

The switch in Mel to free if arriving before 7am I believe had almost no measurable impact on peak with numbers on trains before 7am bately changing.

The reality is no one will arrive before 7am unless they are forced too.
