Its great to see it finally running, just a small issue, Its builders advertised its power ss 7000bhp, during its actual working life they had no trouble getting over 6000BHP at the drawbar. So currently waht ever passenger load they put on it, its effectively running light engine. To hear it REALLY bark, they going to have to put it at the head of 3 or 4000 ton freight. Now that will REALLY be worth seeing and hearing!

Thanks for posting that link. I've been waiting for a "Bevan Wall" quality video to appear, instead of all the shaky-cam phone videos!

Great viewing however, that's not 'in the same ballpark' as a BW production

For those wondering about 4014 and why it was picked

due to being outside and having the boiler cover removed they did not have to hande the asbestos insulation removal, 4014 was also the most complete in regards to parts and what needed to be done.

Some bonus info

Big boy 4014 is curretnly the only oil burning big boy that hasent failed testing because they have tried once before with big boy 4005 but it did not have even heating, at first they were not called big boys that came about after the first one was built in the factory and a worker wrote it on the smoke box door in the same way ed did it with 4014 , the diesel in the consit is currently controlled from big boy with a MU control stand, the current tender on 4014 is not the orginal because the orginal is currently undergoing conversion.

This compilation is one of the better videos on the return to Cheyenne (so far: it's not there yet).

While most of this is high quality, there is a noticeably lower res clip in the middle.

There is also one shot with a very strange camera angle.

Also:

the current tender on 4014 is not the original because the original is currently undergoing conversion

isn't quite correct....

In the video scenes of 4014 being steam tested outside the workshops in Cheyenne in earlier clips, the tender matched with 4014 in Los Angeles can be seen, still numbered 4014, sitting next to 4014. It is still set up for coal.

4014 is running with tender from Challenger 3985 which was already operable and setup for oil firing.

Thats why i said its not the orginal big boy tender since its undergoing the oil tank conversion they still have to take out the feed screw and all that for coal running. Alot more info on the up steam club facebook group.
