The Westlander was stored in Toowoomba station over the weekend, presumably due to trackwork between Toowoomba and Brisbane. Loco 2414 was on the cars.

A relatively rare sight in Townsville these days, Aurizon's 2191F headed south over the Ross River with the UGL shunt from the Bohle at 11.40am this morning. Aurizon only has nine 2170Fs and three 2170s on its books, with most of the active 2170Fs based at Pring.

The Mt Isa Line is back in business with five trains in four hours this morning, including an incredibly rare 2800 class tripleheader...

This morning's action on the Mt Isa line west of Townsville...I believe at least seven trains ran in daylight today on the Townsville to Charters Towers section.

Thanks Sulla. I like that you correctly call those former Aurizon trains as Linfox. Old habits die hard for me.

It's definitely a little confusing at the moment. With Aurizon still doing the hook-and-pull component I reckon it's okay to call them Aurizon trains as well. Generally when I'm doing video captions these days I'll identify the locomotive as Aurizon and the freight as a Linfox freight...just to cover bases Smile

Pacific National's sugar trains from the Burdekin are up and running again for the 2019 season, with all four Wilmar Mills underway. 8328 seen heading down the Townsville Jetty Branch this morning and past Aurizon coal hoppers waiting to go into the Wulguru Group's South Yard Workshops.

The wagons were Watco's new grain hoppers, plus 2473 is a QR loco...so not entirely clear if this was a QR train or how involved Watco was in this run, but the beginning of good things for the Southern Line.

A trainload of those wagons is going to look very nice, especially with a couple of those new Clydes up front.
Big question is, is there any grain being grown?
  Sulla1 Chief Commissioner

A good Winter cropping season with much bigger tonnages than previous years is expected out of the Central Highlands for 2019. At this stage it's looking like most of Watco's initial grain haulage will be to Mackay and Gladstone.

The summer crop was mostly poor. Few in this area have planted a winter crop. We need rain big time!

Take great care around that bank near Grantham after rain, the clay is very slippery. Very easy to slide/fall down onto the track.

I don't believe I have seen a 2470 on a Cameby Downs coalie before. Without counting wagons (I was driving) it appeared to be a normal 41 wagon train too.
