On this date twenty years ago a significant number of people in schools and workplaces across the country began to exhibit symptoms of a mysterious illness, later diagnosed as "steamfluenza". The following day, Thursday August 26th, 1999, a multitude of quite unwell people assembled at Sutherland to witness 3801, wearing a magnificent but temporary black livery applied at the end of a six month overhaul, tackle the Como bank at the start of a heavy load trial to Moss Vale via Unanderra.

That "steamfluenza" is a mysterious illness. I believe that the only known cure is exposure to steam under pressure, which causes steel rods to move hypnotically.

That video certainly had a beneficial effect on me.
