The end of another busy working week brings my last trip on a train for a couple of weeks due to the shutdown on the Sunbury line and Bendigo group.
Waiting for the 17.06 Up ex Castlemaine I heard a very different horn to what I was expecting and so I looked up to see a sort of familiar but slightly odd looking V/Locity heading toward the platform in the form of VL88
I have had a few trips run by the "commuter" V/los recently so it was good to get a look at the new ones.
As already mentioned the first thing that I noticed was the slightly weird looking cab as the train approached. Interior wise they are similar to the commuter versions except that they have gone back to 2 toilets per 3 car set. The new seats are retained but the grab handles mounted to the seat backs seem to be set in further making for a nice wide aisle. The new armrests don't have the click in / push button release which is good as far as I am concerned.
CCTV is fitted in the ends of the carriages, some of the club seating is gone and there are more disabled seats in the "leading" car behind the DDA compliant toilet.
That is all I have been able to pickup, so far, so good, for mine it is the best V/Lo yet
