    This summer is set to be one of the worst on record for bushfires, with several occurring in Northern N.S.W already, several homes have been lost tonight up at Rappville near Casino, these are the advice warnings for 2 of the major blazes that are currently underway.

    Current Situation

    There is increased fire activity on the south eastern side of the fire in the areas of Ewingar, Broadwater Flat, Keybarbin State Forest and the Mount Belmore State Forest.

    The fire has crossed the Clarence River and is burning in an easterly direction through the Keybarbin State Forest and Mount Belmore State Forest towards Wyan Creek.

    Embers from this fire have started spot fires to the south of the [color=#767676]Busbys Flat Rd, Busbys Flat fire in the area of Wyan Creek and Seery Road. More information on the Busbys Flat Rd, Busbys Flat fire is available in our [color=#767676]major fire update[/color].[/color]

    A forecast wind change over the next few hours may see the fire moving in a more northerly direction.

    Advice

    Residents in the areas of Ewingar, Broadwater Flat, Keybarbin State Forest and the Mount Belmore State Forest should take shelter as the fire approaches. Protect yourself from the heat of the fire.

    Residents in the roads off Kimbin-Pikapene Road in the Keybarbin State Forest and Hicks Road, Wyan Creek should take shelter as the fire approaches. Protect yourself from the heat of the fire.

    Monitor conditions in your area. Under strong winds, embers may be blown ahead of the fire front, creating spot fires. These spot fires may threaten your home earlier than the predicted main fire front.


    Current Situation


    The fire is burning in the area of Rappville, Wyan, The Island, Myrtle Creek, Wineshanty, and Mount Belmore State Forest.


    The fire is moving quickly in an easterly direction and has crossed the Summerland Way and is currently impacting Duke Road, West Bungawalbin.


    This fire is very dangerous and is spreading quickly.


    There are reports of a number of homes or buildings being destroyed by the fire in the Rappville area.


    Under strong winds, embers are being blown ahead of the fire front, creating spot fires. These spot fires are threatening property earlier than the main fire front arrives.


    Embers blown ahead of the Long Gully Road Fire have started spot fires just to the south of this fire in the area of Busbys Road, Wyan.


    If you are in the path of the fire you are at risk.


    A forecast wind change over the next few hours may see the fire moving in a more northerly direction.


    Advice


    If you are in the area of Rappville, Wyan, Wineshanty, The Island, Myrtle Creek, West Bungawalbin, or Mount Belmore State Forest it is now too late to leave. Take shelter as the fire approaches and protect yourself from the heat of the fire.


    If you are to the east the Summerland Way in the area of Myall Creek Rd, Neileys Lagoon Rd and Bungawalbin Creek, be alert for spot fires which may threaten your property ahead of the main fire front. Take shelter as the fire approaches and protect yourself from the heat of the fire.


    If you are to the north of the fire in the area of Coombell and Elangowan, you should put your bush fire survival plan into action and closely monitor the situation.

    No they aren't, but it still will be a shocker, especially if you combine Lightening Strikes with the bushfires, I have just recently come back from Armidale having been there for a week, not a single patch of green to be seen anywhere, all brown, everywhere you look!!, it gets more green nearing Sydney, but Sydney itself is fairly dry as well!

    My father has been dead since mid-1989, but for at least 20 years prior to that time, he would comment, around October every year, about the newspaper headlines proclaiming that this would be one of the worst bushfire seasons in memory. It's been the same since 1989, so I have the dubious experience of living through 50 years in which every one has been potentially the worst.

    It was up there with the other perennial headlines and photos - the first baby born in the new year, ditto Australia Day, the twins/triplets/ quadruplets (tick one) off to school for their first day, the woman with a minimum of 10 kids on Mothers' Day, and somebody celebrating a birthday (preferably 100), on the same day as the Queen.

    Worst bit is when the media resort to emotive “catastrophic conditions “ language on particularly high-risk days.

    That stuff gets the loonies with matches very excited.

    Just report that it’s a total fire ban and leave it at that.

    Yes and I'll add a few more.

    - Hospital system at crisis point
    - Road system on the brink
    - Rail system on the brink
    - Staff cannot take much more (they do)
    - Staff Moral at record lows (I have a case study that short working weeks PLUS very high salaries doesn't solve this)
    - Non-sustainable funding
    - Worst drought ever
    - Worst rains ever
    - Continuously want more for less (yes well this is real, a fact of life, get over it and deliver or I'll find someone who can)
    - Had a gut full of [insert your latest gripe here]
    - In the good old days (actually alot of older guys I've known over the years says the only thing good about them is that they are gone)

    That's not made up by the media, Catastrophic is the official name of the top fire danger rating - in SA at least - on a day when the wind/humidity/temperature makes for conditions where fires are highly likely to get out of control, spread rapidly, form firestorms and launch ember attacks many kilometres in advance of a front.

    It was chosen after a careful study involving emergency management professionals from all around the world.

    SA, particularly the Adelaide Hills, has had a pretty good run in recent years and it's not all due to luck. There's a lot of good policy that is going into it including proactive police patrols, pre-evacuation strategies and - when bushfires do start - some of the most aggressive early attack strategies in the world. The SA CFS and Victorian CFA are known around the world as leaders in the field, and their crews are highly sought after in the US whenever they have major wildfire crises.

    I'd be in favour of further powers being granted, including preventive detention orders for known/suspected arsonists and for the CFS region commander to have the power to shut down railways.

    Valvegear and RTT_Rules post valid observations, I am pretty sure every year of my life has been ‘the worst year on record for *insert disaster here*’ but generally bushfires and similar.

    The problem is invariably ‘this year’ turns out to be something other than ‘the worst year’.

    I am quite confident ‘this year’ won’t be the worst either - bad? Quite likely. Worst? Unlikely.

    Severe bushfires conditions are on the North Coast today, with a massive blaze near Port Macquarie,

    Current Situation

    The Lindfield Park Road fire has been burning for several weeks. The fire has breached containment lines and is spreading quickly.

    The fire has crossed the Pacific Highway at Thrumster.

    Advice

    If you are in the area of Thrumster and Sovereign Hills, seek shelter as the fire impacts. Shelter in a solid structure to protect yourself from the heat of the fire.

    The Pacific Highway is closed.



      The next update on this fire will be issued by 08/11/2019 14:00 or if the situation changes.

      This is just one of 8 fires which are currently at Emergency Warning level

      Port Macquarie is surrounded by fire at the moment, the situation is as grim as anything, some people also  may be trapped inside their homes near Foster I am hearing.

      The situation is really bad in Northern N.S.W, so far at least 150 homes have been lost, with at least 3 people deceased, there are some people that are unaccounted for as well. not good at all Sad, there are still 79 fires which are burning, 45 of these are out of control.

      Tomorrow is going to be a catastrophic fire day for Sydney, and it's surrounds, it's the first time that a catastrophic warning has been enacted for Sydney since the introduction of the new system, I hope everyone stays safe.

      There is a fast-moving fire impacting on the western part of Port Lincoln at the moment.

      The CFS might be needing the return of the two planeloads of strike teams who departed for NSW on RAAF transports during the RAAF Air Show at Edinburgh on the weekend.

      Don;t think there is anything running north of Newcastle on the North Coast line.

      As a result of bushfires on the North Coast, NSW TrainLink has cancelled some coach and rail services. View affected services by clicking the link below. Please delay any non-essential travel in this region and contact NSW TrainLink on 13 22 32 for critical travel enquiries.

      Seems all NSW Trainlink services to Moree, Grafton and Brisbane and Casino have all been stopped and replaced by road coaches.
