Passenger demands for a better service on the Upfield Line are now gaining pace. Not much has really happened in years involving more trains or better services and no real plans for duplication which has been touched upon.

There is plenty of grow to the north now and perhaps it is now time the government dropped some coin into the duplication and connection to Somerton.

There are no public plans now. However, I could see such a project either being started, or being an election promise from Labor at the next election. With Moreland Rd - Bell St being rebuilt as elevated rail, I could see them doing a second project doing the same for Jewell-Albion St and doing the duplication at the same time there.

I don't know if they would do the Somerton Link at the same time, but it would make sense to finish that before shutting the inner section of the line so trains could run Upfield to Moreland, with a bus bridge from there.
