What is probably missing is a fuel point at Maryborough on the Standard Gauge?

What is probably missing is the right rail for the locos to run on with a full tank of fuel

What a welcome surprise.

Speaking with a RP user yesterday who had recently been in wine country around Avoca I was very surprised to hear there were rails on this line after upgrade stamped in the early 1900's and at 80 pounds only.

There was also rail at the level crossings stamped One Steel 2017 at 47kg. So a huge contrast.

Why on earth would that surprise you? That has been one of the biggest criticisms of the project and has been all over the news for months and months. Let alone the fact that it has been discussed right here on RP.

80 pound? We'll take it! But the Government can pay to transport it, we don't want to fall for the Bandiana trick again Laughing

Bevans, do you think about what you post? , it’s been mentioned on here and the news previously about the age of the rail, and I’m pretty sure you have joined in on that discussion. Memory loss kicking in?
  Duncs Chief Commissioner

Bevans was just confirming what we know. I was the person at Avoca who saw the difference in the rails that has been discussed.

Trying to upload two photos without success.

What was the problem with the bandiana track bg ? I have read many posts from the civil works blog link you have posted . Your crew look like they know what they are doing, any chance of them coming to a mainline sometime soon?

Don't take that post too seriously Dick. The track itself is fantastic and has improved the ride on the sections that it has been installed into no end.

The only problem with it was the logistical exercise involved with removing it and transporting it back to the VGR. I wasn't involved but those who were will never forget it!

The next lot is apparently coming from somewhere far closer to home.

You don't get much closer than that.
