Wonderful news and exciting tunes for the manangatang line. Hearing from a friend the silos a bursting north of manangatang to robinvale. Should also renew the track as not in bad condition.
Maybe if they didn't waste money on railside music, they'd have more money to fix the track.

Yep and AFAIK you can't correct posts on a mobile. But it only takes a second or 2 to read through your post before you hit the Go button, that way you can at least tell if a sentence makes any sense or if it is just another stream of gobblydygook which no one is going to understand and will therefore render your contribution worthless. QUBE completed their first run on the BG in 4 months. Apparently they had loco issues on the infamous Warranheip Bank and switched them with the UP Ultima Hay train locos. The SSR BG grainy also ran so the busiest the BG lines have been in a long time.

Sadly, a truck has driven/bottomed out over tracks South of Quambatook and spread the rails.

Sadly, a truck has driven/bottomed out over tracks South of Quambatook and spread the rails.Any updates there Caront ?

Grain still just trickling in a Dimmy, operating hrs 7.00am till 3.00pm so she must be close to calling it. They must have one hell of a pile of grain there by this stage.....

Incidentally, PN were shunting BG grain wagons at Nth Geelong yesterday. So hopefully some PN BG grain trains soon

Quite a busy line through Korong Vale atm. Another Qube grain to Nullawil on Monday too. Hopefully it keeps running.
Bendigo line is very quiet atm due to sleeper replacement program at night preventing freight movements. I expect that to change after Feb 4.

If its running for Emerald grain for export as it did previously, it could visit their other vic sites at Tocumal, Elmore and Woorinen possibly too. Although I'm not sure if it's running just for them this time.

Mean while in the rail freight or grain at least department, some noise to coincide with the Minister's trip, the Mayor of Hindmarsh has reminded the Govt about the rail line up to Jeparit and onto Rainbow of it's current shabby and unusable condition.
Hindmarsh mayor rail-road plea.
Fears the loss of a rail-freight line in Hindmarsh Shire will exacerbate hazardous road conditions has triggered a desperate plea from community leaders for state intervention.
Hindmarsh mayor Rob Gersch said the council was calling for immediate State Government support to upgrade the unusable Rainbow to Dimboola rail line to prevent trucks from having to use damaged roads for grain transport.
He said forcing transport drivers to use already fragile roads instead of the rail line, particularly after a bumper harvest, was a ‘disaster waiting to happen’. “The major concern is safety,” he said.
“We are aware we have roughly 6000 B-double loads of grain ready for transport, and because the State Government is not going to fund the upgrade of the Rainbow line, all grain is going to go by road. this equates to about 270,000 tonne.....6000 ( b-doubles ) X 45 ( tonne / load )
did the govt say they would not fund the upgrade ? thought they were working in conjunction with graincorp.

There was a staggering amount of plant and machinery sitting at Gisborne on Monday morning and as I have posted sleeper dropouts and ballast piles appearing right up and down the line from around Clarkie to Castlemaine. May well go beyond The Maine but as I don't I don't know.

I'm all for improvements and even better if they're extensive, but it's a strange time given peak period/ haulage of the harvest.

Hey BG , are the sleepers being laid out brand new or used ? I’m asking as there would be a lot of 4 year old concrete sleepers coming off the Frankston line with all the level crossing removals . Used concrete sleepers are arriving at the new kananook maintenance facility.

Read in a group today that PN sent two BG G's to North Geelong and the first PN BG grainy is set to be loading at Sea Lake. I don't have a date of departure though. Anyone else have any info?
