"Our first priority is safety"IMO, the greatest corporate lie
The RTBU is a disgrace.Gee whiz, how dare the RTBU try and hold the operators accountable to maintain safety and training standards and improve conditions for their members.
Furthermore, there is 40km/h TSR between South Yarra & Hawksburn.Unless its been put on in the last couple of hours there is no 40km/h TSR between South Yarra & Hawksburn.
No idea what ONRSR is, but I bet it doesn't stand for "Oh No, Rail Service Resuming" ?Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator
How is it a test case C2I would have thought it's blindingly obvious. Metro management is trying to sneak in changes to safety training for what reasons one can only imagine. It's the thin end of the wedge; if this succeeds, what will be the next ploy in trying to downgrade conditions.
How is it a test case C2There is concern among the driving grade that if they're allowed to get away with it this time, they'll want to implement this type of 'training' for larger projects and potentially route knowledge in general for new drivers. Its the old 'give them an inch and they'll take a mile' scenario. In my opinion it is a very real concern and rather scary given the poor standard of training Metro currently provide.
V/Line deemed it ok to have pilots for their drivers and subsequently all their trains have run, Metro decided to place managers at each end of the section and stand their staff down. Big difference in attitude between the two organizations.Another difference would be the relative number and frequency of V/Line trains compared to Metro. How many qualified pilots are available? Is a particular pilot able to operate for both organisations, or would each organisation have its own dedicated pilots? (Assuming Metro has any at all.)
