I disagree. Unless contained, between 500,000 and 2.5 million Australians are going to die. When do we panic?
My advice - and I fully acknowledge I'm just some dude on the internet - is to ignore @Totoro's (equally baseless) advice and don't use public transport at all.
If you are not truly essential (to them, not to your financial circumstances), or if you can't drive or have someone from your household drive you to work - stay home.
If you use PT - including Taxis (where the only safe number of passengers is 0) - you put your own life at risk, that of everyone you live with, and tens of thousands of other people you don't know. It's that simple.
