How do you know that I haven't been persecuted in my life because of my race, appearance, sexuality etc? How do you know that I've never suffered the same sort of abuse that you have only for different reasons - the only difference being I don't come on here to whinge about it like a martyr?
If you think that some drunk dude throwing socks at you is in anyway equivalent to a Chinese or Muslim (usually women) getting racially abused and attacked then you are missing the point Don.
Good question and, yes; the ones I listed were all racist attacks by Caucasian people.People everywhere suffer abuse all the time for all sorts of reasons - I once had a drunk dude with some kinda dislike for me take off his socks and throw them at me on a late-night tram but I didn't call the police, I just laughed it off with the rest of the tram.
Crazy people walk everywhere all the time all over Melbourne - you should know that living in the inner 'burbs. One or two crazy white people who get it in their heads that Chinese people are virus-carriers does not mean we're about to collapse into mass-racial persecution; neither does the odd attack on a woman wearing a niquab or a trans-sexual woman... or whatever. It's a big city, stuff happens.
In the early to mid eighties, myself and other black and south asians were subjected to regular racial abuse. And it is effing terrible. And if you do not nip it in the bud, it will escalate.
Crazy white people who get it in their heads that Chinese people are virus-carriers does not mean we're about to collapse into mass-racial persecution.
That is true, but if it is not dealt with, it will be a problem, and Don, you were quite prepared to tarnish all Sudanese as Violent troublemakers.
You don't, you just presume. So just bugger off, Michael - you're not the only one here who is different from the mainstream and you're certainly not the only one here who has been abused in public, assaulted at school or teased for being different for reasons beyond your control.
In the words of a selfish, clueless dolt - "Do jog on".
There you go again. Your lack of comprehension astounds me and of course the insults.
Nowhere in my comment did I assume anything. I was replying to your comment which was I once had a drunk dude with some kinda dislike for me take off his socks and throw them at me on a late-night tram but I didn't call the police, I just laughed it off with the rest of the tram.
If you have suffered abuse in the past, then I am truly sorry. Everybody has different ways in dealing with it, you chose to keep quiet. That does not remove the fact that racial abuse is wrong, and people should not be criticised for their way in dealing with it, which is to speak out against It. It does not make them a whinging martyr.
I merely stated that your comment is not the same as a minority person getting racially abused. The reason in bold are your words, and I have merely commented on that. If you think that I am having a go at you I am really not. I do not think I am the only one who has been abused. Merely commenting on past experiences endured by myself and others. In the words of a selfish, clueless dolt
Really Don, you are better than that.
