Reality is this over crowding on the passenger trains around Australia will
Be a serious issue for containing the virus once the lockdown restrictions are lifted.

The real problem is how do you solve the problem ?

Many do not have a choice unless they can cycle as not everyone can afford a car. It will be interesting moving forward fort cities like Melbourne and Sydney who have packed trains and in the case of Melbourne packed trams which will become, wait for it, breeding grounds for the virus.

The choice is travel and risk infection and possibly death or don't travel. Each would need to do their own risk assessment.

I a way that is true but if you need to get to the office in 4 weeks time when restrictions are lifted public transport or uber rideshare , walking or cycling will be the only way and most of those are not good for longer distances.

Back on the perceived topic, how will social distancing work with crammed trains and trams in Melbourne for example?

Might have to go further than just the Sydney Trains fleet longer distance services will need to return but how will social distancing be managed on those fleets?

Vline in Victoria is likely to have an even bigger issues since they carry more people and many vline services equivalent in NSW are really just sydney trains.  Ballarat and Geelong have many people travelling and these services will need social distancing.

Could do every other seat and no standing room?  How do you police this?
