I am not familiar with these units at all and I suspect that you might be better getting onto the kambach Classic Toy Trains site forum         ( http://cs.trains.com/ctt/f/95.aspx ) , joining up and posing your question there?  Joining that forum is free so no issue there!

While there are Lionel Collectors here, they are virtually unknown so the chances of finding the info you want  would be rare!

PS  You could also check out https://www.lionelsupport.com/media/supplements/Supplement1to9/1Complete.pdf  which may show you enough as there is a motors section  Section 15- 84 or there abouts!

Thanks, I eventually found information for a completely different unit at https://ogrforum.ogaugerr.com/topic/dilema-removing-a-truck-from-a-lionel-dash-9-diesel but the removal method was identical.
