Riots in Minnesota

The cause of death was found to be asphyxiation from sustained pressure to the neck. Looks pretty clear to me.

One thing that is being ignored by all the protesters is that Floyd (to a certain extent) deserved to be arrested, he was using money that was clearly forged and was clearly under the influence of alcohol. He did not in any way need to die but he did need to be arrested
In saying that, the actions of Chauvin were absolutely inexcusable and horrific

There seems to almost be a post war going on with some saying that it is a result of black prejudices and some saying it is due to social status and in many ways both are true
A mentally ill or homeless person is far more likely to commit a crime than a 'Normal' person who has a home
A person of any colour is far more likely to be arrested than a white person due to the immense amount of prejudices

I do think that the whole "Black lives matter" movement should instead be promoting that all lives matter, not just black lives but all people of any colour

Incredible footage of a train being looting moving on the line I think in the USA but the watermark is Russian I believe.  Could be a transcon BNSF service.

Rubbish. The train is in Russia. I don't know anywhere in the USA where the style of OHW structure is used. More fake news. You should know better Bevans.

He will get a life sentence, it was Murder no doubt about it. If he doesn't, the riots what we have seen now, will be just a taste of what is to come.
Murder yes, life sentence no. 10 years perhaps, maybe 12 same as Mohamed Noor. If he gets off though, I agree, the riots now will be nothing compared to the uprising that will occur then!

Has it been established he diee from the knee on his neck because the postmortem says that it was another issue which killed him not the knee.  Can this be believed?

This must be established first.

Yes it has, the family sought a 2nd independent autopsy which more or less confirmed death by strangulation

Also hey, anyone else remember that innocent Australian woman shot in the US by cops? In Minnesota? To which the cop got 12 years in jail?

But where this dude "is doing his job" by kneeling on the guys neck for 10 minutes and as a result, killing him, will probably get smeg all happen to him.
speedemon08
No - that policeman has lost his job as did his three colleagues and he's been charged with murder or manslaughter - they have all those complicated degrees of murder over there so I'm not sure what he was actually charged with.

Noor is appealing his sentence - its possible he may yet get off but shooting someone in the face at close range without even looking at who you were shooting was certainly criminally negligent... at the very least.

You have no argument with me in that Floyd needed to be arrested. he wasn't even resisting arrest.

Do you know that Black Lives Matter was founded by Linda Sarsour, a Muslim American. All lives matter, Black Lives matter does not mean Black Lives Matter only but Black Lives Matter too.

With the Greatest of respect Atiana Jefferson, Botham John, Breonna Taylor, Armaud Arbery and now George Floyd in the last 5 months and you can go Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice, Eric Garner, Sandra Bland and I can go on. With exception of Justine Damond (who is Australian) they have all been black and none of them had committed a crime.

How are we going with the three other officers, the hispanic and the black, and in particular the Asian man with a record for violence too, who surely could have stepped in and prevented the oppressive white officer doing this? Maybe social training had taught them to respect White Man so they didn't dare? Has there been ideologically sound looting to protest against them? Or maybe, as there was a White Man present, we'll just blame it all on him?

What?

You know Billy, this is not about a just white vs black thing. I am sure I have made it clear, it is about a blue vs black thing. The protesters are not rounding up white people to beat up.

We'll just blame it on the white man.

No the others should have said something but officer Chauvin who is white killed Floyd and I hope he gets 20 years.

There is endemic racism in US Police forces, whether they are black. latino, white or asian, they will treat Blacks differently to whites. Remember it was a Hispanic that killed Philando Castille.

Anyway we are you worrying about some ar$ehole rouge policeman who just slowly suffocated someone to death without a care in the world. Screw Chauvin! And I hope his wife leaves him penniless and destitute. G O O D!!!

...

No, no surprise. Yes other minorities are subject to Discrimination, I know that. And it is a disgrace, but we are talking about black people in the US, and that is what happens to black people in the US. The above is your statement and yours alone.

Michael
Here are the fatality figures for police arrests in the United States:

For every 10,000 black people arrested for violent crime, 3 are killed

For every 10,000 white people arrested for violent crime, 4 are killed

Please show me how police brutality disproportionately affects black people using these figures.
Oh give up Don. Again I am not just talking about Violent crime. Take into consideration the following statistic

Black Americans account for less than 13 percent of the population but they are shot and killed by the police at a rate that's over twice as high as for white Americans.

Black Deaths 30 per million

White Deaths 12
