There are several locations on the Mallee where their grain comes from which will now be on Standard Gauge allowing access to SSR with their new rake providing the second operator onto the Mildura and Sealake lines.

Thanks BigShunter. I did suspect that 'Appleton Dock' was the origin, but always wise to check.

Is that facility wholly Emerald, or is it shared with other grain exporters?

Emerald is a 50% shareholder with sumotomo I believe.

It also allows QUBE to access those lines - so that would make it three operators.

But of course it has to make economic sense in the first place Razz

Yes it does and it is exciting.  In terms of the grain on the branch to Murryville when can we expect a train to this location and might SSR also consider this?

Does Aurizon Bulk have any SG grain sets at all?  Is there any SG grain stock that is not owned by the current players that is 'sitting around'?

Where would Aurizon be using SG wagons for grain not in NSW and not in Victoria?  South Australia unlikely leaving only Queensland for the possible use but that would be NG traffic?

The only real place I would think would be WA as yes, they would already be in use in NSW/Vic if they existed.

At the risk of going off topic, what is the utilisation of the NG Grain fleet in Queensland?

@8888 might be able to correct me if I am wrong, but Aurizon's only S/G Fleet of Grain Hoppers are the AGUYs, which use to be N/G XUs before being converted in 2016. I believe that the rest of S/G Hoppers have been scrapped.

The AGUYs are currently in use in Northern N.S.W.

Something interesting today via Albion.  SSR UP grain (or a transfer of wagons) on BG via the Albion cams.  I have uploaded the video for review but what wagons are these?  I thought the type of wagon SSR use depicted was only on SG?

The train was recorded via Golden Square Camera https://www.railpage.com.au/railcams/goldensquare/photo/42121031414 at 4.40am.

Plans for a light engine run Ararat - Maryborough on Tuesday, departing Ararat about 09:30, returning about 17:55. Driver training. An SSR job, dunno which loco/s to be used or what plans they have on that corridor.

Interesting, haven't SSR being doing some work for V/Line on the Gippsland upgrade works, they did driver training out that way earlier in the year. I wonder if similar plans are afoot for MBS works or similar?

An SSR grain ran on the down via gheringhap overnight as:

7941V (internal to vic) loading out west.  First time I have noticed an internal Vic SSR grain train rather than interstate working.

There have certainly been some interesting combinations on the SSR grain trains over the past few weeks.

I noted SSR101 C505 48s35 G513 on 2SK2 southbound through Albury this morning.  It pulled into 3 Road with red signals, I hung about thinking it would cross with something else but it eventually rumbled off into the Viral Territories.

After a quick coffee, the something else heading north turned out to be a loaded PN Grain 2KG6 with 8124 8110 8154 at the front.  This followed the XPT to places north.
