Agreed, but the discussion here was about connecting Millicent.
Yikes! You won't be able to reopen it. You'll have to build round it.
No one is going to pay for 15 - 20 km of new track south of the volcano. Using the Wolseley line, with reversing, is probably still possible but that would be prohibitively expensive as well.Otherwise there was a crazy number of level crossing through the Mount Gambier Urban Area, all that have been decommissioned and signaling equipment removed.
