Hoping some members here can review data (especially numbers) I've collated from various online sources for an academic paper on rail procurement trends in NSW between 2010 and 2020.
I'm counting individual items of rolling stock for heavy rail (individual carriages - not sets) but for light rail vehicles the sets are articulated (permanently made up of individual carriages), I'm classifying these light rail vehicles as a set as its unlikely they will be be broken up into carriages like you might see for heavy rail trains passing thru a workshop.
Some of the numbers don't add up notably row 1 and 3, Sydney Trains A & B sets, Wikipedia says for 'A' sets 626 cars (carriages) I calculate 624, and for the 'B' sets Wikipedia says 192, I calculate 208
I understand the 'A' Sets were procured in the dying days of the ALP Kenneally Government (Transport Minister John Robertson)? while everything else was procured through the LNP.
