These Hoppers? What is their future?
I know this is the Portland thread etc, etc however I wish to ask the question?
These hoppers have been stored for many years apparently and Pacific National has in recent times scrapped wagons that from afar could have been sold or retained for future use.
Yes SSR purchased nine Ex VR hoppers awhile back and that seems about it.
These 100t hoppers have an axle load that exceeds the Portland line and most of the Victorian Standard gauge lines, so why are they retained?
Manildra Starches have 100t hoppers, who else in regular traffic.
I will stop at that this as otherwise I will stray into speculation rather than facts!

No worries Z VAN, well Graeme & Greensleeves are out chasing trians, I'm chasing train video's on YouTube and your chasing info, just 1 big info chain gang.

I see that the AK train has terminated at Heywood and is returning to Maroona due to the continuing ARTC works in Portland arrivals area. Bit of a disappointment for the locals down that way.

Waited four hours for GM27 and GM10 with the AK cars to arrive.  It didn't.  On the way home I noticed a big stop sign and a bit further up a large piece of timber across the main track into the yard.  I'm getting far too old for this!

If it was Qld, next week they will be removing the rails after spending heaps on maintenance after a long period of time of no maintenance.

According to the Port of Portland Fb site four grain trains are due on the 24th, 26th 28th and 29th November...................would love to get down that way soon.

8135 turned up with two other locos - one I think is a G. Wagons are all black. Didn't get a chance to stop but I'll see if I can get a couple of photos before they leave.

Do those wagons get to Victoria often?
