Thank you for the video Bigshunter.
These Hoppers? What is their future?
I know this is the Portland thread etc, etc however I wish to ask the question?
These hoppers have been stored for many years apparently and Pacific National has in recent times scrapped wagons that from afar could have been sold or retained for future use.
Yes SSR purchased nine Ex VR hoppers awhile back and that seems about it.
These 100t hoppers have an axle load that exceeds the Portland line and most of the Victorian Standard gauge lines, so why are they retained?
Manildra Starches have 100t hoppers, who else in regular traffic.
I will stop at that this as otherwise I will stray into speculation rather than facts!

No worries Z VAN, well Graeme & Greensleeves are out chasing trians, I'm chasing train video's on YouTube and your chasing info, just 1 big info chain gang.

Regarding info on these hoppers, plenty of questions were asked on Greensleeves video and he seems to have all the answers there.

For what ever reason if you play the the clip, the comments aren't attached so hit the link directly above this, there they are.

So thanks this time to Greensleves for the clip & info.

A lot of empties on the Peaco train and nice video.  Also an awkward track configuration at At Arnaud.  Need a straight through line with diverge for the platform only.

I see that the AK train has terminated at Heywood and is returning to Maroona due to the continuing ARTC works in Portland arrivals area. Bit of a disappointment for the locals down that way.

Yes nice work trainbrain, Mum's nearly having kittens down at Heywood, she near blown me phone up with fast breaking news of a very short passenger train or something trundling past her house..Razz
Her description was a Diesel and 3 carriages so I was guessing the AK train. I liked she specified it was a Diesel not Steam !

Waited four hours for GM27 and GM10 with the AK cars to arrive.  It didn't.  On the way home I noticed a big stop sign and a bit further up a large piece of timber across the main track into the yard.  I'm getting far too old for this!

Yep. I wandered down to the bakery a bit after 10.30 and thought I'd missed it.

BTW, Downer are still working in the yard. They don't seem to be in a rush...

Speaking of which Rusty, here's some footage of the AK cars from Hamilton up to just short of Maroona at level crossings. Perhaps not quite the thread topic but part of the current converation.

If it was Qld, next week they will be removing the rails after spending heaps on maintenance after a long period of time of no maintenance.

More seriously I look forward to hear about the new traffic in the New Year.

8135 turned up with two other locos - one I think is a G. Wagons are all black. Didn't get a chance to stop but I'll see if I can get a couple of photos before they leave.

Yeah a couple of pics wouldn't hurt RustyRick, train through Heywood at 06:24 according to Mum, description was, not very long, 3 Diesel, again ( not steam ) she did try and get a photo but turned out to be a reasonable shot of the shed, fair bit of the garden and a small section of grain wagon, which RR said are black...Razz

We'll seen if Y115 comes up with any shot's ...

PN grain arrived at about 0720 with BL33, G539 and 8135.  NSW wagons, big ones (don't know much about wagons).  I'll post  some more photos later if I can get Imgur to work.  Be glad when we have direct posting like Facebook.
