Quite a bit of variability in this year's crop condition and potential yield from what I gather.
- Wimmera is looking really good again.
- North Mallee and Moulamein region not great (really missed the rain this year). Average to below average likely.
- South Mallee, Northern Country and Goulburn Valley looks good. There has been some frost damage in patches.
- East of Deniliquin looks good too.
While we in Mildura at least, haven't had as much rain as other areas we have had a decent amount of rain (certainly more than we had last year). Correct me if I'm wrong. It's certainly pretty green up here.
So far in October we've had 16mm of rain (average 29mm) so far in Mildura, 25mm in September, (slightly below the 27mm average) 41.6mm in August. (above the 26mm average) (according to http://www.farmonlineweather.com.au/station.jsp?lt=site&lc=76031&list=rb
). Assuming that amount of rain continues we can expect lots of grain out of Yelta, Carwarp and Ouyen. I wonder what's the minimum for a good harvest?
Areas around Manangatang and Robinvale look really good. Very green, lots of crops growing.
