Enjoyed the game but not the result.

Brisbane did a good job hosting this premiere event.

I am not happy that the Tigers won the 2020 AFL Grand Final, as opposed to the cats, since i still dislike Richmond for beating the mighty crows in the 2017 AFL grand Final.

That being said, I am really impressed with the massive TV ratings increase for the night grand final timeslot, so i really do hope that night grand finals are permanent.

The TV ratings were higher this year because Melbournians were not allowed to go to pubs etc to watch the game and had to stay at home to see the game.
Nothing to do with it being a night game.

Crows weren't too mighty that day. As for the night grand final, I found myself wandering around, wondering what to do, on grand final day. A bit like going to Adelaide for a day-night cricket test - what the hell do you do after you finish breakfast? A day test you stroll to the ground for a 10:30 start, but there's hours to kill before a day-night match starts. And then where do you get a meal after the cricket finishes? Not too many restaurants in Adelaide are happy to take a 10pm booking!  It's a great spectacle, the Adelaide Oval at night (as I am sure the GF at the Gabba was) but socially we (the group I travel with) much prefer the day game. Interestingly the Age ran a poll this morning asking your preference for day or night GF - last time I looked it was 81% day, 19% night, so I am not alone.

Why dont most people like night grand finals?

Surely it is easier for those who are working /or have non AFL related commitments during the day to be able to enjoy a night grand final?

Simple. As duttonbay has pointed out, the before and after is far better timing with a day game.
Next; people working or with other commitments are in the vast minority, and a change is just not warranted for so few.

It's much more difficult for me to mow the lawn in the evening in case I miss a bit in the dark.
I therefore favour the afternoon for the Grand Final.

I've got a nice little line of ride-on mowers with high powered driving lights that I can let you have at a good price. I'll e mail you the address; knock three times and ask for Lou.

Thank you VG.
Must be 2-stroke.
Are they 567, 645 or 710 engines.
Not into any of that 4-stroke GE Tier 99 emissions rubbish. Laughing
