Nothing against SSR, but if they are looking to run "a bigger rake with three S-class" AND the Kensington rake (B and S) there doesn't seem much slack for the unexpected?

Yep.  Correct.  The hills will echo with the roar of vintage EMD locos.  

I'm more surprised that it wouldn't be done at the facility at McIntyre itself. Gauge converting wagons has been done there recently, for instance the wagons QUBE are currently using on their quarry service were converted there.

I would've thought the heavy road haulage of all of those wagons to Bendigo would be cost prohibitive.

Agree Carnot, so what is the state of play with the rice train atm. Is it running or is there a current contract with someone to run
it ?

The Toolamba line, I take it will need a good freshen up, seems pathing on the Bendigo line is getting increasingly tight. With a heap of rice trains for what is going to be probably the next 12 months, Toolamba must be the only option. Probably plenty of cereal grain as well from the region.

Harvest time is going to be an interesting spectacle.

Only commenting on it as the noise from the half baked MBRP was that only one train per branch could run at a time. I doubted that heavily myself back then. The proof is in the pudding, they can make it work if ran efficiently using what's available.

TSRs seem to be spreading like a virus in Vic atm.  Sea Lake and Manangatang lines are a real disgrace with long stretches of 20-25 km/h restrictions now.  We are talking 4 hrs to do the 80km from Korong Vale to Lalbert.

This harvest is going to degrade the track even further. Can Vline not manage any kind of emergency on the run maintain to assist it? I am truly concerned the track may get that bad it gets booked out of service.
