Western line, Sydney Trains and NSW Trains stop here.

Try the first part of the bird's nest fern botanical name. Easily found on Google.

I googled "spleenwort" and found a plethora of ferns listed, but none seemed to fit. I'll try your approach now.

Edit: I initially found literally dozens of "Asplenium . . . . . ", and concentrated on the second words in the titles. Now; of course, asplenium is the one and = Emu Plains.

P.S. I wouldn't have thought that too many NSW trains stop there.
  georges Chief Train Controller

Bingo! Staff to Valvegear.

EDIT. Most trains to BM and Lithgow stop there. https://transportnsw.info/documents/timetables/93-BMT-Blue-Mountains-Line-20201025-20210227.pdf

Fewer Sydney Trains - about five per weekday.

Thanks georges.

We have accommodation near a settlement with tolling.

Goulburn?

Southern limit of CityRail network as per title of thread but well outside Sydney Trains operations. Name of thread may need changing?

Not:

Creditable (I'm aware that the equestrian term "canter" is an abbreviation of "Canterbury gallop"), but Canterbury isn't the answer.

I'll trot off and become stable again before trying once more to rein in the answer.

Well, don't be saddled with guilt about it, Valvegear; I'm sure you'll ride it out.

But we have a winner: Mount Kuring-Gai is the right answer, and for the reason suggested.

The road is yours, michaelgm.
  michaelgm Chief Commissioner

Thanks, Faredodger, both you Valvegear have been particularly humorous in responding.
Now I’m the beast of burden saddled with the next one.
Continuing the theme.

The curing guy, released his mount from the small pen and rode to victory.
