Lol! You might have a bike, and you might have a wallet, but I guarantee you don’t have money in it.

Why Question

Compared to running a car, cycling as a passtime is an extremely cheap means of travel.

Everything about owning a bike or in my case an E-bike is, or can be amazingly cheap. From initial purchase to the low maintenance costs to transporting your bike on PT...all amazingly cheap and not just because I'm a senior either.

And then there's the additional benefit of maintaining a level of physical fitness our car bound friends will unlikely ever have.

If memory serves, at one time a 2000 class railcar was modified by removing some seats to allow for extra bike stowage for this very reason.

Surely one or two 3000 class could be modified the same way, though it may reduce seating for non-weekend use.

It had the part between the doors with seats on one side of the car and hoop rails bolted to the floor on the other.

There were also a couple of 3100 cars that had no seats between the doors and the back end of the car, allowing extra bike/wheelchair/standing space.

Doing the 2000 style version with a 3000/3100 car would only reduce the number of seats by 20, and would actually be quite handy for weekday peak services (or trains after Adelaide Oval events) as the total capacity would be increased once you consider that standing passengers could use that space.

Since there will be a surplus of DEMU cars in 2022 once GREP is completed and Alstom has delivered the new EMUs, it would be a winning move.

KD forcing those idiots to ride their bikes up the Hill?

NOT BEFORE TIME!
Whatever you do, son, don't go for a job in marketing. You wouldn't recognise an opportunity, complete with excellent PR like this is, if it was tattooed on your backside.

Son?  You call me Son?  I am on the wrong side of 50 and retired.  As for tattoos, I do not have any on my backside or anywhere else.  You owe me an apology.

I called you "son" based upon the available evidence - I didn't think anyone of your years would have made such an immature comment  like " NOT BEFORE TIME" concerning these cyclists. I'm on the wrong side of 80 and have sons of 51 and 49. I'm glad that their thought processes are better than yours. You want an apology? OK - I'm sorry that you think as you do.
