You have the right idea, Valvegear: trestle bridges replaced by Armco culverts; but it isn't Parwan.

Sorry, no Sale.

Neither guess has been on the right line.

The bridge between Berrybank and Lismore isn't the right answer, duttonbay (was the body of water the Gnarkeet Chain of Ponds?), but what a great photo!  Thank you for sharing it with us.

You are, however, in the right quadrant of the state.

Further clue:

The name of the body of water once crossed by the bridge is reflected in the name of a closed station on another line.

No takers?  Let's have a summary:

A long gone bridge on a line which is still open and active.
It last bore the weight of a train in the 1970s., at which time it was supplanted by Armco culverts.
It is in the south-west quadrant of the state, but not on a line that has been on the subject of the guesses so far.
Crossing a body of water whose name is reflected in the name of a closed station on another line.

It is not:

Parwan trestle
the Avon River bridge at Sale
the magnificent bridge on the Pleurisy Plains line between Berrybank and Lismore.

New clue:

It is in the urban area or a moderately large regional centre, and more or less just on the up side of major station that still services passengers.

Uhhhh...Barongarook Creek Bridge in Colac? (he says with little conviction or confidence).

Barongarook Creek Bridge in Colac is the right answer, and it's over to raudteejaam.

Well done!
  raudteejaam Train Controller

Well, there you go!

Ok, next challenge: I am a closed station on a closed line. Twice in my life I was terminus.

None of Moulamein, Beech Forest, Beechworth or Leongatha.

No guess is on the right line. One guess is in the right quadrant of the state.

Further clue later today.

Not Murrabit either.

Clues so far: I am a closed station on a closed line. Twice in my life I was terminus. No railway infrastructure remains at my location. No guess so far is on the right line.
New Clue: A popular rail trail runs through my location. Beechworth is the closest guess geographically so far.
