Eventually got a reply from Steven:

Hi Shelton,
Thanks for your email. Cut off will be once we have a delivery date with product enroute (mid 2021).
Difficulties in China presently as their production deadlines are being decimated with no labour available and skilled labour even harder to find.
All the factory owners we are presently talking with expect even worse staff shortages after the Chinese New Year period, with less people returning to the Dongguan region.
Presently it’s impossible to be more specific, unfortunately.
We may receive a sample of the new gearing we have made for the T before CNY, but no certainties.
Kind regards,
Steven

Haha, thanks for the tip, I just ordered and paid for mine! At least they are covered for, with another six months to go, probably 'at least', it will allow time for maybe an extension to the order. I've had the C class diesels ordered and paid for for just over a couple of years now, and I just extended that order as they 'must be close'!

Ha Ha Toad Very Happy

But they were "very close" over two years ago, after SDS announced their look-a-like C Class re-release.
I really get annoyed when fibs like this are issued and repeated release after release. It was unnecessary to try to hurt another company. Especially as we were asking for an Auscission C Class for at least 6 years before this. The SDS release would never have happened if a "real" C was released when we asked for it  Very Happy
It was also good to see SDS selling so many of their inaccurate "entry level" repaints anyway.

Out of interest guys, have you gone for DC or DCC??

Everything I buy is DCC and has been since it was an option.

Did anyone see the CLP that was on Ebay a couple of days ago?  After 48 bids, it eventually went for $435?  There was another one a week or two before this one and it went for over $350 (sorry, I forgot the exact price - I blame my "Old Timers").

It may well be time for SDS to seriously consider re-running the CL/CLF/CLP.  I, for one, would be interested in a couple of CLP's.

I am aware of the current manpower problems in China.  It may be worthwhile for SDS to commence the planning now for a delivery in about 5 or 6 years time.

If SDS is able to do a re-run of the CL/CLF/CLP then they can put me down for CL 1 John Gorton.

i suppose it depends on whether the original dies are able  to be used.

Has SDS fallen victim to the Facebook fiasco?

Notice their Facebook page is showing no posts. Apparently this is what happens when Facebook removes you - because SDS Models by its name is clearly a news organisation LaughingLaughing - and then re-instates your page.

For someone not as familiar with NSW, did they really run in Candy or is that a fantasy scheme like some of the C class got?

Info about the next SDS loco has been sighted on facebook. In fact not 1 but 3 locos!  The WAGR F class, TGR Y class, and QR 1620 class. All will be available in HO & HOn3.5.

Well it looks like the SAR modelers are being well looked after as another previously unannounced SDS loco has been revealed in this months AMRM. I'm guessing a pair with sound option will set you back about 900. Wink

Would be great for the hobby as a whole if it was the 900 Class. Such a impressive looking loco. Even as a NSW modeller, I'd get one just for display purposes.

Hope there is some good news at last on the 81 Class.

"We'll have a comprehensive update early next month for all our projects..." - but for those who can't wait there's a sneak peek of the 900's and 81 in candy at https://www.facebook.com/SdsModels/

I love that the 81 is sitting on some Tillig dual gauge flextrack.
Can't wait to see the samples sitting on that inside rail!
