Thanks for your input Richard.

This would place additional traffic back onto the branch after upgrades for the grain season.  Hope it goes by rail if it is export.

They may have fixed the Dunolly to Korong Vale (and on to Sea Lake), but the Korong Vale to Lalbert shambles might not be getting fixed for a while. It was meant to be resleepered based on Govt funding last year, but it looks like it's not now. Unless I'm mistaken?

Devil is in the detail toward the end of this press release:

Maybe it has to wait until Feds fund remainder of Murray Basin Rail project?

Well Dick is fairly close to the mark again, well done Dick...clever dick Razz

After having a bit of a sniff around this is the best I could come up with from the Warracknabeal Herald editor.

there are two hay operators currently looking to dabble in the area to my knowledge.
First is the Somers who have built supposedly the largest hay shed in the southern hemisphere just south of Warrack in the Lake Whitten area.

The other is a chap playing his cards close to his chest and not saying anything, building two big sheds  out on the Rainbow Rd. He’s saying it is for machinery storage but others have said it is for hay storage.

they are the only two I’m aware of,

Kind regards David

Prices for Hay are pretty bad at present due to good rains across most of Eastern Australia.

But another big grain harvest is likely.  Rail companies should be investing more to be able to move it next year:

The lake is on the south side of Warrick and would one expect the loading to happen at Warwick yard?

(*probably need to split this out to a new thread)

THe Somer's farm and big hay shed backs right onto the railway line.  But are the Vic Govt and Victrack coming to the party?

This is exactly their role!

What is the facility just on the northern boundary of Warrick that is rail connected?

Are you looking at the GrainCorp site ? Or can you be more specific.

I understand the Somer's Farm site is Southeast of Warracknabeal.  i.e. Other side of town from the Grain silos.

If your talking North of Ross St, that's GrainCorp's site and is definitely connected to rail, you can see the triangle if you enlarge er up enough.

The price of export hay has gone down as a seasonal adjustment. Australian export hay is now competing with fresh harvest from the northern hemisphere . Happens every year .

Thanks for the homework BS . Did you say it was a farmers co-op trying to start up the new business?
