No, wrong. The NSW outbreak, widely agreed to be the introduction of Delta to Australia, came about from an unmasked, unvaccinated Limousine driver carrying an American FedEx Aircrew to quarantine.
I knew it came from an unmasked chauffer and I'm not surprised the chauffer was unvaccinated. That he was unmasked is effectively irrelevant, I don't think the mask would have helped him. Of course he was not vaccinated, no one should be surprised by that, Pfizer wasn't approved for use in the driver's demographic then - even if he wanted the vaccine he wouldn't have qualified for it.
Aaron
Also last I read, masks while prividing some minor level of protection for the wearing are primarly to protect others, ie why Surgeons wear masks and patients ungoing surgery don't.

Exactly, I see I left the sentence about who benefits from the wearing of masks out. Primarily they are for the protection of others, not the wearer - though surgeons are well advised to wear them for themselves too, given they risk ingesting bodily fluids from patients.

NSW has sadly seen its worst day of the pandemic with nine further deaths, including a man in his 30s, as the state recorded 1,542 new local cases. Positively, the Premier says more than 43 per cent of the state is now fully vaccinated.

Believe? I prefer knowing.

Pfizer BioNTech vaccine entered approved use after publishing of phase three trial data on December 20 last year, that's many more months ago (8, count them, it's nearly 9) than less than 1.

Am I serious? You're damn right I am! It's basic countable math, my six year old niece could school you on this.
Aaron
History is littered with drugs that epidemiology didn't identify as deadly with certain cohorts until years after the event. Nothing to do with maths - everything to do with the fact that EVERY new drug has problems.

Again with the rank arrogance - "My six year old niece..."

Nothing to do with your six year old niece and everything to do with the fact that comprehensive testing doesn't take "months".

YEs Don, everything you post is your guess, because it certainly not remotely close to fact.

Pfizer - 18mths over 1B doses to date expect 2B by end of year. Thats 1B peoples worth of data and srunitised by over 100 countries and other jursiticions. Being copied by the Chinese. Yeah, its soooo bad. Moderna similar.

Other CV vaccines such as Chinese based on 50 year old technology. Yeah, thats sooooo bad.

Meanwhile, Don with a PHD in Googling BS is saying an animal worming drug not approved for use in any justistication in the world as a means of treating CV-19 is a safer bet while the tax payer is funding your ar$e slower sufficating in an ICU to the tune of $2670/d just for the bed!

This is the level of reseatch into using Ivemectin for CV, a Monkey's kidney cell!

Subsequent studies found that ivermectin could inhibit replication of SARS-CoV-2 in monkey kidney cell culture with an IC[sub]50[/sub] of 2.2–2.8 μM

Not the worst week by any means.

NSW has to date had nearly double the cases of Vic in total, yet only 1/4 of the deaths and one would assume this is as a result of the vaccine roll out and other measures taken to protect those most at risk. If I recall during the major outbreak in Vic, there were still govt reluctance to force vaccination by aged care workers.

UAE cases numbers have recently started to tumble from 1000 - 1300 / d to around 700 -800 on the back of pushing 80% double dose with mostly pfizer with daily deaths around 1-3 /d. So moving into 2022 with still signficant vaccine hesitancy and with the older portion of the population in Aus, post Jan 2022 with the country fully open will see around 5 - 20 deaths per day.

yeah well I was thinking more aerosol type stuff over an artery shooting into the surgens mouth. Very Happy The plastic visor/face shield now used in surgery to protect the eyes was brought in following AIDS.

None of them know what they're doing - they stopped children playing in playgrounds in Victoria because they were worried that people were going to use it as an excuse to congregate in public. Too bad if you had little kids and lived in a flat, they would have been driving you up the wall... collective punishment.

And none of this hard-lockdown stuff has worked in Sydney or Melbourne this time around anyway.

Not worried that they would congregate...they were. On the weekend before the playground ban and curfew were reintroduced there was blatant contempt for the rules.

That said I still don't agree with the playground ban or outdoor mask wearing and am pretty annoyed at the curfew as well.

The fact that the lockdowns have NOT eliminated Delta is if anything more proof that they are currently needed to stop Delta from going totally out of control. It is just about buying time for the vaccination program now.

Again, what is the alternative?

Meanwhile, over in the US, COVID cases are going backwards, strongly.

The representative from SA's advocacy for the Murdoch loony right media and through that, Fox News has plumbed even lower depths, if that were possible where one of its poster boy presenters is advocating forged vaccination cards for those who don't want to get vaxxed.

This is beyond the pale and Murdoch MUST pay for this, but he won't of course. Fox News operates under his editorial direction and obviously Murdoch sees political and financial gain for the Republican party and their supporters...that is those who don't get sick and die due to exercising their 'choice' not to get vaccinated.

I want to be clear about this, the representative from SA strongly supports Murdoch and through the actions of that Billionaire idiot he's advocating to maintain the pandemic and ultimately by advocating choice, is seeing to the deaths of thousands of idiot Republican supporters.

Please watch this short video, it goes to the heart of the mainstream loony right media and why I continue to call it thus.

...and this where, due to the anti-vaccers and the loony right wing media, COVID rates are now up to three times as bad in the US as they were 12 months ago. Hence Pres. Biden's recent media conference regards this matter.

So let's get this straight, the act of buying a faked vaccine card is NOT a serious crime, it's an "act of desperation", but not a crime, Tucker has well and truly flipped his lid!!
