Here’s some rare footage recorded on this date thirty years ago, Friday May 15th, 1992, of 3830 being hauled from the asbestos removal facility at Redfern over to Eveleigh in readiness to commence a lengthy restoration.

It's a scene I'd love to see repeated - 3830 going in for an compete overhaul. I shall probably be considered to be some kind of heathen, but I much prefer the look of the unstreamlined 38.

Couldn't agree more VG about non-streamlined 38s. I'm not sure what level of overhaul '30 would need, maybe less than required for 3801. From what I understand, mechanically it's not too bad. Ainsworth can look after the boiler judging by the job they did on '01. Still, although I completely agree with you, I'm not holding my breath waiting.
