    I'll reply to you because the other person is a completely unhinged idiot, who will twist the reply to the point that his answer will not likely not bear any relation to my post.

    The state government has allocated mega$ to the health industry, as per the budget link...not thrown money at it as it's held in contingency until it's needed. However during COVID, and it didn't matter which political spectrum of government was in power, many, many essential health workers left the industry. This happened in every state, but Victoria was hit the worst.

    It's going to take time to:

    1. Train new professionals to work in the industry.

    2. Entice qualified health workers to come to Australia to work in the health industry

    3. Entice de-moralised former health workers back into the industry.

    Either way, don't get sick, the health system is stuffed for a while and I have no doubt Dan will lose some bark at the November election because of this.

    Yeah I'm sure he spends hours every evening pouring over these data sets in order to soothe his paranoia.

    The funny thing will be when news.com.au realises the NSW government uses similar data mining, but chances are a) they won't report it and b) even if they did, Carnot won't post it on RP.

    I think you're underestimating how fed up Victorian's are with Dan's 'Command & Control' approach.

    Worth noting the emergence of a new libertarian centrist political party of late which might cause some headaches for both the ALP and Libs (Bill Lang's "Victorians Party").

    The reality is that several of other business units in different departments have now come under DPC (Department of Premier and Cabinet)
    These include Aboriginal Heritage and other indigenous business units spead around the state, family violence, yes the government set up a family violence unit after the royal commission, child protection policy. There are many others but I'm not about to go through the heirarchy of DPC to list them all.
    These and other social policy units were in diverse departments and bringing them all together, generally in 35 Collins St seemed like a good fit.
    Having said that, it's guaranteed that many of these social policy units will be disbanded in the event of the election of a conservative government later this year...as unlikely as that prospect may seem atm.

    BTW 'Dan' doesn't oversee the department, this is undertaken by the Secretary of DPC, Jeremi Moule.

    What worries me about the LNP in Victoria is that they too often seem happy to clutch at straws as far as policy and direction goes. Election after election they serve up a disconnected fantasy narrative - African Gangs! Skyrail! Something's going on with the CFA! - that their enablers in the media are happy to promote as some kind of massive issue that will destroy Labor... and then the election comes and its revealed to be based on nothing but wishful thinking.

    Victoria needs a decent opposition, but the one we keep on getting doesn't seem to be able to articulate any solid reason why people should vote for them. With their "everyone secretly hates Dan Andrews" approach this time around chances are they'll see the exact same result: Andrews was extremely popular during Covid and while no doubt his popularity will have dropped since then, the idea that Victorians have all quietly swung behind the dimwit anti-vaxx protesters of late last year seems dubious at best.

    He may be strongly disliked by some, but Dan Andrews isn't Scott Morrison: the LNP aren't going to win in Victoria just by hoping to be swept in on a wave of anti-Dan hate

    I agree that the current opposition party has barked up too many wrong trees - ie. Flogging the E-W link dead horse, Skyrail opposition, and so on.

    But if the Govt keeps hobbling and silencing IBAC, then it's clear the current Govt is rotten to the core.

    I find it interesting that all four ministers who are resigning are quite high profile.  Health, Education, Policing, Employment/Trade... (There's a common denominator there)

    What do they know that we don't?  I'm not sure it's simply burnout or wanting to take a slower pace of life.
