    I find it interesting that all four ministers who are resigning are quite high profile.  Health, Education, Policing, Employment/Trade... (There's a common denominator there)

    What do they know that we don't?  I'm not sure it's simply burnout or wanting to take a slower pace of life.

    I am not bothered so long as absolute no marks such as Bernie Finn do not get anywhere near the reigns of Government.

    Dan Andres denies that factional issues will decide who gets what in his new cabinet - ABC;

    Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said he did not expect any factional resistance to Jacinta Allan's ascension to the Deputy Premier role and that factional allegiances were overstated.

    "My recollection is that whilst, for instance, Rob Hulls did a very good impersonation of someone from the left, he was not from the left," Mr Andrews said.

    "Whilst John Thwaites was a particularly progressive member of that government, he was not a member of the left."

    Treasurer Tim Pallas, who represents the right faction of the Labor Party, said the party would be unified in their support for Ms Allan.

    "It really befalls to be as the senior minister for the right to make it very clear that I am a very strong supporter of Jacinta Allan to be the deputy Premier," Mr Pallas said.

    "I'll certainly be recommending to the right Caucuses that they should be supporting Jacinta for the role."

    Lisa Neville has been unwell a long time, and we should be greatful for her dedication and perserverance to stick out a couple of exhausting years.

    The others are all still relatively young and want a life.

    Martin Foley had to been dragged in relunctantly 15years ago from his real love of union work.
    The perpetual Minister for warm&fuzzy, and cleaning up everybody elses mess is exhausting.

    Reading between the lines:
    - Lisa's departure seems to be no big surprise.
    - Martin Foley struggled in the Health portfolio tbh.  That Dept is an absolute shambles and seems to be getting worse.
    - Merlino probably got 'pushed' because of a factional fight or the fact he was resisting some of the extreme leftist/wokeist push into schools.  The red-raggers in the AEU may have been behind this.
    - Pakula again probably fell foul of the Socialist Left dominated leadership in cabinet.  He seemed to be one of the more competent ministers IMO.

    The 4 ministers leaving could be some window dressing for the election. The Vic government is on the nose maybe this is the start of working through that issue.

    Pakula competent. Total rubbish. Probably fell foul because he was utterly rubbish. He kept his job through the Hotel outbreak saga and poor Jenny Mykonos lost hers.

    I had relatives who visited the place in the late-1980s. It was decrepit, your neighbours and relatives dobbed you in to the police if you stepped out-of-line, and many people hated 'the Socialist paradise' and its Government.  They were insecure control-freaks.

    I've also travelled through most of Eastern Europe for work in the 2000s.

    Given that the choice is between "Dictator Dan" and "Lobster with a Mobster" I'll take my chances with the former and hope Vic Labor changes faces either now or in four years to freshen it up.

    The Victorian Liberal Party is done and dusted, much like NSW Labor (although apparently NSW is finally getting sick of the Liberals now that the federal LNP has showed its true side). Fool us once (1955-1972), shame on you. Fool us twice (1992-1999), shame on us. It might have been a different story if the election was right in the middle of the 2021 lockdowns when people were forced out of work and couldn't leave their suburb unless it was to go to Colesworths, the servo or the bottle shop (but not after 9PM because the COVID boogeyman apparently only comes out at night).

    Chris Minns, the leader of the NSW ALP seems pretty good compared to the recent disasters.

    The new SA premier likewise.

    But Dan (insecure), Anna P (increasingly corrupt), and McGowan (Dan Mk2) seem to be losing the plot.

    It seems that, no matter when, or how many, Ministers choose to retire from politics, it's always a shock-horror-impending disaster event. People who can't help themselves will look for any possible criticism, reasonable or not. These former Ministers have given ample time before the November election for their replacements to settle in. Would the critics prefer them to have been re-elected and then quit? When would be the "right time" to go? Why not now?
    Answers on the back of a postcard please.
    P.S. The convoluted posturings of the loony right Carnot will be ignored. Hopefully he will make one too many accusations of corruption one day, and be sued to the back teeth for defamation.

    @Carnot Yes this needs to be investigated. But if you taking anything that David Davis says as evidence you really need your head read.

    The Coalition would want to start getting someone decent in their cabinet to sway me from that as bad as Dan Andrews maybe, the Coalition with Peter Dwyer, George Crozier, Bernie Finn and David Davis would be far worse.
